Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

Last celeb confirmed, it will be Catherine Tabor ( voice of Padme Amidala - Star Wars: The Clone Wars)
I already updated the list on page 51

As there are 7 of you on the list, I think I will need to find my lime green mickey heads and attach them to my Star Wars backpack and my stroller. Say hi if you see me!

I will keep my eyes open for lime green Mickey heads though out the weekend. Looking forward to seeing Everyone again this year!!

Of those who are going the third week, is anyone else staying at the boardwalk?

Rick

We will be there bright and early on opening day May 18th...with 4 kids who have NO idea it is StarWars Weekend!!!:yay:

We are curious to see how long it will take them to figure it out! Is there big signage out front by the Hollywood Studios sign?

Yes there is lots of signage. It shouldn't take them long to figure something is up!

Glad I'm not the only one indulging a grown man's toy obsession! Difference is mine won't know until we get there. I convincingly told him it was way too expensive for a toy.

:rotfl:

I bet you'll make his day! :thumbsup2

DH wanted to not only do it for himself but for the kids too. I did have to veto that idea. ;)

I started this list after I asked my question. Anybody else want to be added to the list, or has some changes? I only listed what info I saw. I myself don't know yet if I want to sacrifice other park days to SWW, so mine is still flexible.

My family plans to be there each weekend since we can only be at a park for a few hours a day.

I saw a post on the Darth Vader cupcakes and R2D2 drink cups.... anyone have any idea what the prices on these might be? (Or what they were last year?) Thanks!

I want to say the R2 was around $10-12 and the cupcake was between $5-6. I honestly didn't care, we just wanted them both! :rotfl:

Ha ha!!! Yes I agree... they are both worth getting.... I just like to budget as much as I can.... even these little things add up quickly!

Is Hoopla worth standing around for 90 minutes?
We got to Hoopla 60 minutes before the show last year and were about 12 rows back from the stage. Once we claimed an area (5 of us), DD & I went to CS and bought everyone hamburgers, fries and drinks.

Everyone was sitting down on the ground. So you don't need to stand. We ate, and about 20 minutes before the show, DS had to go to the bathroom. I took him and when we got back, everyone was standing. Not easy to find your group, but we did.

Keep in mind if you have kids (younger than teenagers)... once everyone stands they will not be able to easily see the stage. I elected to put DS (7) on my shoulders (again, we were only 12 rows back). He stayed up there for an hour.

Now, I know there are people behind me who don't like THEIR view blocked by kids on shoulders. That's an entire other discussion. I simply mention this because it could factor in on how you plan.

Now, I've only been to SWW & Hoopla once... last year. So take that for what it's worth. But I will say, even my 13yo DD ENJOYED Hoopla, and she couldn't care less about SW.

If we just want to watch the hoopla on the screen do you need to arrive very early?

We watched it on the screen each time we saw it last year. Most people didn't arrive until about 15 minutes prior. The most amazing thing was that everyone sat on the ground! Only time the view was obstructed was when people walked on the pathway in front of the screen. Hopefully people will be just as considerate and not block views again. Maybe everyone was just exhausted. There were a ton of little kids and lots of strollers and a few wheelchairs in the mix. I should have pics of sitting in front of the screen.
