Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

If the parks opens at 8am you would still be Ok to get there between 5:30am and 6am. The process to get the wristband and fp is very quick but be prepared for the park to open around 7:30am maybe. If they see alot of people waiting they'll open the park earlier but I'm sure we'll get more info closer to the event. (I have close friends that work at Star Tours and my husband works at Backlot Tour so I'll ask about their schedules and let you guys know)

I know, isn't it great that we get our own Insider for SWW? :goodvibes

More often than not I know more from people on this board and other fan boards than even the CMs. Management doesn't really give alot of info to their CMs on events until the very last minute, but we'll know 1 week before it starts about schedules so for example if a Star Tours CM is told to arrive at 7am that could be a hint that they are planning to have the park open earlier than 8am

Okay SWW vets. What do you think is the latest time we can show up at gate and get celebrity FP? Really don't love the idea of arriving 5 or 6 am. Will be at SWW Sunday week 3. Thanks.

who do you want to meet? The celebrity hosts (James Arnold Taylor and Ashley Eckstein) will be the easiest to get since they're there every weekend so arriving around 7am would be ok for them. For the others I would say the earliest that you can.

I'm not worrying about the hosts, but What time should I arrive for Ray? 5, 6, or 6:30?

We just want to meet the Fab Four in their SW costumes. Where do you go to meet them? What time does their meet & greet start? What time would you recommend we get there for those meets? Any hints or suggestions would be great. Thank you

In the past they met by the exit to the Great Movie Ride. They rotate between Jedi Mickey and R2MK, Leia Minnie and Darth Goofy and Stormtrooper Donald.
Last year I was waiting for Jedi Mickey and R2MK, it was just Leia Minnie, but then the 2 came out and I got a picture with all 3. About 4 families later Minnie went in.
Their meet and greets started around 10am but we got in line around 9am.
As for tips: try and get there early so you get your pictures fairly quickly and it's not so hot. If you want to get all of them you have to go in line again.
This group of characters has long lines thru the entire day.
Now that I think about it, maybe WDW will surprise us with a Darth Donald meet and greet since that's the theme this year :)
Here's a video so you can see how they rotate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgnA7l3u_5k and this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYycDURbx10

Question for those who drive....if I don't get there by opening, say I arrive 10:30 or 11, is there a chance of th parking lot being full by then?
Thanks!!

How bad are the ride lines during SSW? I'm considering going during our upcoming trip in June just to get a look and enjoy the atmosphere. On the other hand, we'd still like to enjoy ToT/RnRC/TSM and so on. We wouldn't be getting any autographs or pictures taken with any characters. I guess I was hoping that since people will be participating in the other activities that maybe the rides wouldn't be too bad...

The arking lot won't be completely full to capacity

There will be the regular lines at non SWW attractions, I would use Fp as much as possible.

as early as you can without being grumpy the rest of the day (it defeats the purpose) I would get there around 5:30 to 6am.

I'm probably gonna leave at 5:10 or 5:20 since it's a 50 minute drive to enter WDW (since there shouldn't be traffic then, about 55 minutes). Also, we're probably gonna take a 3 minute stop to pick up doughnuts (about 20 mi. away from WDW).

We are going to the Disney characters and a few ride.

What time should we arrive by? Our day it opens at 8 am.

If you want to get the most done (non SWW and SWW things) I would say to arrive 1 hour before the park is schedule to open. You never know if they'll open earlier and you can watch the Stormtrooper show above the turnstiles before they open the park

Remember to bring enough doughnuts for everyone :thumbsup2;)
Sounds like a good plan.

Since you're helping me out alot yullin, what time do the autograph machines open?

There are no machines, there are CM with the Aurograph fp and wristband and they give them out. As for the time it's not really set, but in the past it's been about 30 to 45 min, before the park opens. So for example last year when they opened the park at 7am they gave out the fps around 6:30am. That's why it's so important to be there early because you never know at what time they'll open the park, especially that first weekend.

Ok, so if the park opens at 8, will they take advantage of the early rope drop?
