Star Wars Tales Of The Arcolyte

So, Hasbro put this on sale and it's already sold out:

I'm very sorry to have to break this to you, Brian, but obviously you're mistaken. We've been assured by the real "Star Wars" fans that "The Acolyte" is a complete failure. Ergo, any merchandise associated with it cannot be popular.

I can see why you'd think the helmet was, though, since obviously someone hacked the Hasbro site with false information about it being sold out:

Tsk, tsk...

What I didn't know, and I'm trying to get up my friend with this, is that Qimir said something about it blocking Sol being able to use the force to get into his head....I didn't know that was a thing. Sounds like Magneto's helmet in that sense.

I have to say what happened at the end of episode five is really dopey with Sol's ability to read minds.
I wonder if he is mistaken about that being a Jedi ability. Has any Jedi in the past been able to go fully into someone's head... I thought that was more of a Sith thing... i am not talking about general sensing a darkness or fear, but like really take possession or reading someone's mind? I dont think that Sol really has the ability to read minds, nothing has been indicated so far.

I wonder because of Qymr experiences with the witches and Mae is that he fears mind intrusion. The Mothers had the ability to enter into someone's mind... remember when Mother ANisaya took over Torbin and made his eyes go black? I am wondering if there is more than just making him blank... like maybe they are capable of also possession and using the body

Also, Sol is grieving - I don't think he is thinking straight at this point. It's not so easy for him to sense that it's Mae at the moment. At lest that's the way I see it.

Rey was able to read Kylo's mind. Baylan also seemed to be able to get in Ahsokas (a little) and Sabines (a lot).

Rey and Kylo had the weird Dyad thing going on so they were a special case

I know what you are saying and I agree, those examples just seemed more general... some of the info that Baylan used was more general knowledge... like if you knew Anakin was Darth Vader and you knew the relationship between Ahsoka and Anakin.... then you would have some mind messing needles to use on the former Padawan... similar to knowing the history of Mandalore... So far it was reading emotions and not the total in your head thing the witches did to Torbin

my speculation is when we get more of the actual happenings in the witches fortress..... the witches will fight back and possess some of the Jedi... Torbin and Kelnacca .... and use them to fight Indara and Sol... maybe why there is a still of Kelnacca fighting who looks like Sol circulating from the trailer

Unfortunately, Star Wars series have several examples of really good actors either given poor dialogue or bad direction, or both,
I think this is the problem. It's either the material isn't that great or the directors are struggling to bring it to life. There have been major character deaths in this series that should have had a strong or some emotional impact on me and I felt absolutely nothing.

In the infamous 1978 Holiday Special, you can tell the Harrison Ford is trying to do his absolute best with the completely horrible material he had to work with. I'm not getting that sense here.

Well, the hit me pretty hard, especially Jecki. 😢

yes, me too, those were shocking, gut punches for me...
and Yord, I wanted more of him, He was very interesting, pompous. I would've liked to have seen a good character arc for sure. Jecki too. She was such a skilled warrior, and smart. The ways they were killed were so violent, but very dramatic and relevant. I will certainly miss them. Mae and Osha, I don't care about much at all. Didn't care about Indara either, didn't have time to care about her, or really the others. I didn't like the first episode though. Sol remains very interesting. Am sure he'll not survive, so I will miss him.

Interesting stuff this week....

So Darth Nudist was a Jedi...a long time ago? Hmmm - what is this guy? I am glad they didn't drag out the Parent Trap to much. I love how Sol reboots the ship's systems by turning it off and on again! Osha is so inherently good, but it being an idiot. It'd be one thing if dude was making a compelling argument, but he's not. I don't Trust Vernestra!

Just my initial thoughts. It's still pretty good and finally feels like it is moving along.

I am getting the feeling of a season 2 set up.... there are 2 episodes left, seems like a lot to wrap up .....
next episode will be Sol's therapy venting... and Osha flirting with the bad boy. I do like his exotic tropical Sithy man cave though...

Vernestra seems to be able to force read, she was hearing the saber battle so I think she knows at least what really happened, but there defiantly was an allusion to some sort of Jedi council trouble

I’m watching for a second time. Then I’ll try and pull my thoughts together. That was some sensual Star Wars for sure .

Yeah I'd like to watch it once more as well, overall liked it but do feel like we've got a lot to cover in the next 2 episodes. I did laugh because HE KNEW if he had to make that call to IT to fix the transponder they were gonna ask him if he rebooted first, my man has been in that position before.

Sol intrigue

very much looking forward to hearing Sol's story about Brendok. I found it interesting that he told Mae he felt the need to confess or tell the High Council everything

I feel like
Venstra knows the Stranger and either was his master who cast him out and then tried to cover it up. The scars on his back look like he was hit with a whip. That was a very interesting episode and did a really good job of showing the "seduction to the dark side". The helmet being a sensory deprivation device is pretty genius. No wonder he could destroy all of those Jedi. He was more in tune with the Force than they were. I think Sol agreed to go along with Indara's lie about what happened. I think we'll find that she wanted to take the children and the Coven attacked to defend the twins. Then all hell broke loose. Maybe the Stranger was manipulating things behind the scenes.

All of us were unhappy that they showed dead Jekhi and Yord again. That felt cruel and unnecessary.

ooooh.... i did not make that connection and was wondering about the shape but now that you mention it YES... at the least a previous encounter....

Also
"Unknown Planet" has to be Ahch-To from The Last Jedi, right? The creatures on the beach looked like tiny versions of the Thala-siren from the Last Jedi, aka the green milk providers. Would be interesting if the Stranger hid out on the area of the first Jedi.

I honestly don't get the complaints about the sets. She shot a lot of this on location like Wales and Portugal

I am not so sure.
They make a point to show Cortosis veins in the rock, so it's wherever he was mining Cortosis. One of my bloggers pointed out that it could be another planet that had rocky islands and a Cortosis mine, one with connections to Plageus - the name escapes me though.

what about the "whip" light saber. Have we ever seen one of those? Seems like that would have been in future generations?

We haven't seen a proper Lightsaber/Whip but energy whips have existed in Star Wars for a long time, including Zygerian slavers and Mandalorian Vambraces. Some may have a solid core, but they are similar.
