New info out of Star Wars Celebration Anaheim for the first spin-off film, Star Wars: Rogue One

From IGN.com:

"Star Wars: Rogue One is set after Episode 3 and before Episode 4 in an era without Jedi. Star Wars: Rogue One follows a rogue band of resistance fighters who must unite to steal the Death Star plans."

Interesting is the word "Anthology" under the title. Word is all the spin-off films will use this as well.

Great idea for a war movie. I wonder how it fits with the Rogue Squadron.

I also would not take the footage to mean anything. According to the new canon, the Death Star is being built above Geonosis. Not a forest planet.

I'm not sure on your footage take. Apart from the fact it's straight from Disney, I'd also remember when this was taking place in the timeline. All rumors purport to it happening in the days/months before A New Hope. If that's so, the Hyperdrive Core should already have been active per Episode IV. The last piece of the puzzle to be finished was the Super Laser, and moving it to planets where a ready supply of labor/resources could support the operations would make the most sense.

Also, and I think this may be relevant, in the new comics Geonosis's population was completely exterminated. Lord Vader visits the planet, and no mention of Death Star was made.

Update: You can tell I wrote this late. The comic happens after Death Star destruction. However, the signs of destruction on the planet denote years of decay, not just a couple months.

There are nearly 20 years of time between III and IV. This would happen only days before IV. Tarkin takes place around 5ish years after III. It could easily have been moved in the interim.
