We (me, daughter 15 and son 13) are registered for the Star Wars 10k on April 17, 2021 (fingers crossed). Anyway, we're just making a long weekend of it to avoid missing more than a day of school. However, that means we don't have any full days in a park (Expo day, Race day, departure day). I was playing with the idea of departing on Monday instead of Sunday (making Sunday a full day in a park), and eLearning from our resort (we haven't booked yet but it will probably be POP). Question is: how is wi-fi around the resorts...outside of the rooms.....perhaps a table by the pool? Any ideas or suggestions? It is probably more hassle than it is worth but i just figured if we were there and could figure out a way to do a full park day we should try! :stitch::figment::dumbo:

Not great. And I expect it to be worse with others doing the same thing and with people using their phones instead of magic bands.

I've heard some people suggest going to resort areas used by conferences to sit down with a laptop and take care of business. I imagine these areas have better WiFi service -- and they may be quieter, also. There may not be anything around Pop, but perhaps you could crash another resort when it's time for School?

I have no idea if the convention center buildings are even open. Also, my understanding is that currently you can't drive to another resort unless you have a dining ADR; if you don't have an ADR you have to arrive by Disney transportation or walk. I know OP is planning ahead, but I would want to know the current status of those details before dragging my kids to another resort planning to use the WIFI there.

I think OP would be better off with a thread that had a subject of: "Best WIFI at Pop?" And ask in the post about room sections and public areas. Some rooms may be better than others, so that could factor into a room request. People who know the answer may not open this particular thread because the subject line doesn't indicate that this is what the question is.

In my experience at Disney resorts in general (note, I don’t have a lot of experience at Pop specifically), I would say outside WiFi would trend towards spotty more than a sure thing. Possible yes, but not sure I’d want to rely on it 100% without a quick backup at hand. I make sure to be inside somewhere when I really need WiFi (and even that can be spotty sometimes).

Good luck OP, hope they can get that race in.

It's sounding like the elearning would happen on Monday, which would also be check-out day. So that broadens the options for locations, especially if the OP has transportation. Might be possible to load the car and drive to Park Parking that also has a nearby resort, or perhaps make a dining reservation at a resort.

All that would assume access to a location with good, quiet wifi, though, and, as you point out, it would definitely be good to get reassurance that this is available before planning to do it.

My kids also may be doing some school when we are on-site. So I'll be watching this space, as well, to see if anyone has found options that worked for them. I suspect this will be a common scenario over the next few months with so many kids able to do school from anywhere -- and, in some cases, where asynchronous learning is being done, anytime.
