Star Wars Hotel Pricing

The price is worth it if you actually go into space. Otherwise it is insane. :(
Update on what this room includes. Apparently they send you into another dimension where you are actually in the Star Wars universe. You get to meet Hans Solo and Luke Skywalker and Luke teaches you how to fight with a light saber.

Prince Leah then cooks you dinner and Chewbacca gives you a back rub while singing songs from his latest CD – the words are hard to understand but the music is excellent.

There are only 100 rooms or so from what I understand. Yes, I think there will be that kind of demand. I bet it will sell out very quickly with such limited availability. It is expensive for sure.
How many club level rooms are there in the monorail resorts? Does anyone know?

Interesting question. Quoting from Touring Plans:

There are about 175 Royal Palm Club rooms and around 90 Sugar Loaf Key rooms, most of which are similar to regular rooms throughout the resort, but there are also suites available. Club level prices can be over $100 more than standard rooms at the Grand Floridian.

Looking at the rates for late August & early September (i.e. the period that Disney provided Starcruiser prices for), Club Level at the Grand Floridian starts at $897 per night (tax included). Historically, Disney has offered deep discounts for this time of year, 25% to 35%. If we assume a discount of 30%, that comes out to around $628 per night.

Let's add 2 nights, 4 theme park tickets, and at least one meal at the parks (assuming other meals at Club Level), and we're up to perhaps $2000.

The Galactic Starcruiser starts at $6000 for a family of 4, so it's still a very large price difference.

Still doesn’t collectively clock 3+ hrs though

It kind of does. You leave on the shuttle at 8:45 and return at 12:40. You only do 4 things while in SWGE. ROTR, "Story time", MF:SR and Lunch. Story Time is just a time eater to get everyone off ROTR and ready to head to MF:SR. But as I said, what can I do except eat lunch? I have motion sickness.

I see a lot of logistical issues that Disney still needs to work out. What happens when...
  • You plan a split stay, 2 nights at Starcruiser and 3 nights at some other Disney resort. You plan on meeting an old friend for dinner on night 4 but they have to change and needs to get together on night 1 or 2. Do you say "I can't do it" or do you say "Sure"?
  • So let's say I'm in a family of 5. My SO takes 2 kids to SWGE and I want to take our 5 year old to Toy Story. Disney does say we have a ticket to HS. There are waits longer than we anticipated. How do the two of us get back to the Starcruiser if we miss the bus?
  • It's Florida, and you spend a really hot summer day in SWGE wearing appropriate clothing which includes a long robe or coat. You'd really love a pool when you get back, desperately. Do you mention it to hotel staff or just say nothing? By the way, they could add a pool at a later date to the left or right of the hotel.
  • No one shows up for SABACC training but EVERYONE shows up to play in the tournament?
  • You know your kids and know they need downtime in the afternoon. What do you do?
  • You're a late sleeper. You don't mind missing ROTR because you've been on it more times than you can count but love MF:SR. So you sleep in. How do you get to SWGE?
  • It has early checkout with very little chance of a late checkout. Everyone needs to be out of their rooms by 10am so housecleaning can get it cleaned by 1pm.
  • You want to go back to HS to see their nighttime fireworks. How do you get there and back? Will they even let you in? The FAQs state "you will have the opportunity to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during your planet excursion to Batuu."
I'm not being a party pooper here, but my event planning head has thought of things like this for years. I saw it happen with Disney Institute a year after they opened. They weren't making any money so they cut payroll and that led to fewer classes being offered.

I read through the web pages, the FAQs, the SAMPLE Itinerary and others. Like all things Disney Theme Parks, it has this disclaimer.

For details about your personal itinerary, please check Star Wars: Datapad in the Play Disney Parks app 30 days before your voyage departure date. Experiences are subject to change without notice.

So this isn't all of the experience. We'll see what happens when it opens.

By the way, does anyone realize there ARE windows in the hotel? I'm guessing for emergency services to get in?

I think it looks like a lot of fun, just maybe at half the price.
I have been to Orlando I see how the travelers from other lands spend money... it's crazy. I'm on here learning ways to get the most for the least... 2-5% off disney giftcards , what food to buy so we dont have to eat at the parks... but these people who spent 21 hours on a plane are spending piles

I see a lot of logistical issues that Disney still needs to work out. What happens when
I think the obvious answer is its not an option.
I'm sure they will have wordage in what you sign to cover that. It is an immersive experience where you follow their plan. Going outside the cruiser when you want, not allowed. Walking over to HS when you want, not an option.
I'm sure when you are at Batuu, they will keep you together as a group so you don't have guests disappear to other parts of the park.

You just need to think if it as being just like a Cruise ship trip. Offshore adventures are available only on Disney's fixed scheduled. So most likely one group visit to GE via shuttle and a specific return time for departure to the ship (hotel).

If you want the flexibility in your schedule as you have suggested above maybe you need a split stay or just skip this offering if you can't or don't want to follow a standard cruise schedule.

That original Disney Institute experiences sounds awesome. Thanks for sharing that!

We'll see feedback from the first bookings how things are handled. There may be substitutions for aspects of it but alot of money to spend if missing many of the intended parts.

Did anyone try the VOID StarWars virtual experience in Disney Springs? We were blown away. It was only about 20-30 minutes but it transported me so far out of reality that when it was over took me a moment to get my bearings and remember I was in Orlando on vacation.

I expect this similarly uses technology to immerse our senses so deep it can be perceived as not only exotic but real as well. If anybody can do this on a level beyond what’s thought possible today, it is Imagineers.

So as far as price…sure we could go to Bali instead or a thousand other places that open our eyes to new perspectives. But this is the only one available today where we can vividly experience pioneering the galaxy. That’s pretty cool 😁

We did The Void in 2018 and it was an amazing experience.

Yes, I have no doubt that people will spend the money on it, I'm just curious for how long. Hoping the price drops or they have big discounts in a few months.

What are they going to do? Not let you leave the hotel if you want? Not let you leave the group and head to Toy Story or Muppet Vision 3D? They have to have buses to the resort for those who don't arrive with a car, especially if they are pushing split stays. Hop on a bus to CR and walk to MK, hop on a bus to BC and walk to EPCOT? Get an Uber/Lyft?

What can they do? Stand in your way if you want to do these things? I don't think they will.

Oh my gosh, please, please, PLEASE do not sign up for the Starcruiser hotel. It seems like you really just don't get what the point of it is.

And there's nothing wrong with that! Not every experience is for every person. I like the parks, but there I things I would never, ever do there. Just not my particular interest.

You don't seem to understand: It's not a "hotel." It's not a place where you drop your bags and crash after a long day of staying up to watch fireworks. It's not somewhere you can have a lazy morning sleeping in or a dip in the pool when things get hot.

The entire point is to experience a fantasy Star Wars roleplay experience the ENTIRE time you're there. Yes, you go to Batuu. Because it's also Star Wars. But it's not time to rush off and also cram in SDD or MMRR. The point of the Cruiser is to BE on the Cruiser and get the most out of every minute there, not try to find a way to sneak off to catch a fireworks show or whatever.

It's not for everyone. Again, that's totally fine! It's for a very specific mindset.

Fortunately, Disney has aslo been planning this in their head for years. Have they made mistakes in the past? Of course, huge ones. But I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing here. At least for right now.

I read through the web pages, the FAQs, the SAMPLE Itinerary and others. Like all things Disney Theme Parks, it has this disclaimer.

The thing doesn't open for nearly a year. It's not surprising that they are still working out the logistics and planning and scheduling. The sample itinerary is just that: a sample. More will be revealed when the real date approaches and they start taking reservations. This is just the first of (many) PR blasts.

By the way, does anyone realize there ARE windows in the hotel? I'm guessing for emergency services to get in?

I'm sure Disney has given absolutely zero thought to the safety of this experience and that the SW hotel will quickly become a deathtrap. We'll see!
