Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** January 15-18, 2015

Anyone have experience in the past on how fast the AP or DVC spots sell out on other runs?

I've usually been at work during AP registrations lately when they seem to fill up even faster than before. But definitely anticipate it filling up the same day it opens. Best advice for everyone who wnats in is to be ready to register at 9 am PST when it opens.

I am a new AP holder and have not navigated the AP website at all. Where will the link for early registration be in that section? I want to be sure I am in the right place when it opens!

My friend usually gets me in since I am not an AP holder anymore, but there should be a section within the AP website for discounts. I'm assuming that's where they put it. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

So here's my dilemma and I'm looking for advice here. Obviously I realize that nothing is guaranteed.

As you might imagine, I really want to run this race. But I'm very concerned about it selling out before I get a chance to sign up. When I last did a runDisney event, it was not selling out on the first day.

My annual pass just expired today and I don't have another trip planned until December and then the Star Wars 1/2 Marathon a month or so later.

Do I renew my annual pass tomorrow just to get the early registration for the Star Wars 1/2 Marathon? I'll have internet access at 9:00am either Wednesday for early AP registration or the following week for actual general public registration.

So for those of you with recent experience in registering for runDisney events in Anaheim, if I try to log in to register first thing the day registration opens to the general public, will I be able to get in? Or am I looking at a scenario where it's going to sell out in minutes as opposed to hours?

I can't answer as to how fast it will sell, as I don't have my AP yet either, and will be trying to register atleast 2 runners.

But my question is- Is it worth it to you, to "lose" 5months of your annual pass by renewing now?

From what I have been reading, the runs previously sold out in an hour or so, so this one will likely sell out before the end of an hour.

IMO if you can be online at 9am for actual general registration I think you will be ok. I read somewhere that about 70% of the spots are saved for general registration. Personally I wouldn't waste 5 months of my AP just to get AP reg. AP reg will sell out faster than general reg.
With that being said, if you wait for general reg, prioritize which races you are registering for. If you're doing the 5K or rebel challenge, register for those first. IMO the 10K and Half by themselves will sellout last. Just my thoughts.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I fully realize that what you've said may not work as we don't know how quickly this will sell out. I guess I'm just slightly spooked by the claims on other sites that this could be a luck of the draw even if you're on first thing registration morning.

I'm leaning towards waiting until general registration opens up as this will also help me save up for the trip. Once I'm registered, then I have to figure out hotel and how much I want to spend for short walking distance vs. saving more money.

Checking in. I will be doing the Rebel Challenge. It will be a huge challenge, as I am going to do Dopey the weekend before!!

Yay! Good to know I'm not the only crazy one! :goodvibes no Castaway, but doing Dopey. See you at W&D and Avengers

Me too! W&D-Avengers and Dopey-Rebel Challenge! (Hello frequent flier miles!)

My first runDisney event was the Halloween 5K that ran through the MK @ WDW preceding the first Wine & Dine ½.

My first DLR runDisney event was the Star Tours 5K that preceded my first Disneyland ½.

I've run all of the races that runDisney offers (most of them more than once) and I am maintaining a perfect attendance for the Wine & Dine Half. (It is a favorite.)

I wouldn't be surprised if the AP/DVC early registration spots sell out within two-three hours and general registration to fill in under one hour.

My sister lost her debit card and is getting a new one in the mail so she cancelled it but forgot our APs are on it (I called this morning to change it to my own credit card but AP card member services were insistent that because my sister signed the contract any form of payment has to be in her name:(). I think we're only currently behind $40 in payments but do you think that would have any effect on being able to sign up for early AP registration?

I just checked their site and only see the two WDW marathons listed. Am I missing it? Can anyone help?

Thanks!!

That's weird. Maybe they took it down to get the link set up for tomorrow? The Star Wars race was listed on the DVC website just this morning and now it's gone :confused3

My AP expired the day before early Dumbo registration and I was still able to use the links on my AP page for early registration. They keep your page active for about 2 months after your AP expires so you can renew. I think I could have even registered early for wine and dine, if I was doing that race.

Not that any of us would, but don't forget that DVC and AP early registration is tomorrow morning at 9am PST!

I agree with this. If you're on and ready to register at 9am you should be fine if you're just planning to register yourself, and to prioritize which race(s) you'll be signing up for. The Rebel Challenge will be the first to go, and I'm guessing the 10K after that based off what I remember from previous years. But we shall see!

It's not a lost cause to wait until general registration opens.

Congrats on your perfect record for W&D! I'm so excited to do that one next year. Question for you: how many years has that one been going on? Have they started recognizing Legacy status? That's what I'm shooing for with the Tinker Bell Half Marathon.

If you have access to the AP website, you'll be fine. Once you get the link, you don't need anything else from your AP in order to register.

I just checked their site and only see the two WDW marathons listed. Am I missing it? Can anyone help?

They are probably waiting for tomorrow so nobody gets confused and starts thinking they can register today?

Good to know for a lot of people!

This is the fifth year. It started in 2010. I believe I heard that we will get special lanyards this year.

The link is now there on the Annual Passholder website. Says register now, but going there just takes you to info about RunDisney. But at least its there now. DW and I plan to do the 5k, first time for both of us. Will we have to register separately or is there a way to sign up together?

Thanks

How fast do the kids races usually fill up? Trying to figure out priority for kids races and 10K :).

They do fill up, some age groups faster than others, but I'm thinking the 10K will go faster. Just my guess.

Interesting that it's already up, just not linking you to any registration. I didn't think they would do that but what do I know, lol. Haven't been an AP holder in so long and even when I was I don't think I ever really want on the website.

As for the registration itself you can only register one at a time unfortunately.

I feel like the kids races fill up slower that everything else, but I can't say for sure.
