Star Wars Half Marathon ** Check In ** January 14-17, 2016

Hubby is signed up for the 10k while kids and I are signed up for the 5k. It's our first Disney race and we're pretty excited!

My dd (14) will be running her first Half that weekend. She is so excited. Shes got over 20 5ks and several 10ks under her belt.

She is hoping that WDW will offer the wine and dine half in November of 2016 so she can go for the coast to coast medal.

She is thinking about trying to put together a Darth vador costume she can run easily in. Her friend that is running with her wants to go as a storm trooper. So cute!!

As a non-runner (walker yes but runner no, lol) I am so proud of her.

I do have one question.

DD did her first rundisney race this past may - the Tinker Bell 10k. Can I use that as proof of time? I am very new to all of this and I know she'd hate to end up in the last corral.

Yup! Any 10k or longer can be used and if she does one w/ a better time in the next couple of months, she can resubmit that time as well.

Well, we're in the lull between registration and when people start making reservations.

I did buy some of the fabric to make my Aly San San running outfit over the weekend. Never too early to start sewing!

I noticed that online reservations are now available today. I am glad that I made mine through the travel agency because it is a better deal than through Disney. I decided to stay at the Disneyland Hotel and my parents will be staying at the Best Western - Stovall's Inn because that looks like that it will be closer to the corrals. I found the program from last year so it helped to get an idea of how everything was mapped out. Getting pretty excited! Bought my daughter a cute storm trooper outfit to wear for the 5K and now need to get outfits for the other races.

Just booked a few days at DL Hotel now that reservations have opened up. I'm going to do a split stay and check out after the races are over and move over to Hotel Indigo.

I just booked PPH through disney. The rate for my 4 nights averages out to the same as through the travel agencies.

How are you guys booking your rooms online? I went to look just so I could compare prices, but they still showed up as unavailable for me.

EDIT - Never mind! I was still looking at the AP page, rather than the regular hotel page. It does look like GET's rates were better.

So now I just have to decide if I stay at PPH, which I love, or stay at Stovalls and save over half of what PPH is costing us. I do love room service and the kids love the PPH water slide. But is that really worth almost $700 extra for 4 nights? The walk from Stovalls looks like its only an extra 5 minutes from PPH. Oh well. At least I have time to decide!

Yeah I was torn but got the Carousell for 80 bucks a night on special a few months ago so it seem crazy spending the extra considering I will not be at the hotel much.

Not IMO.

Maybe a little longer than 5 minutes, as that light can be tricky and it's not a straight sidewalk (hint: giant hidden Mickey), but it's close.

Yea I talked to mom and we're thinking the same way you are. Basically what we would save would more than pay for my entire Tink solo trip so looks like we'll go with Stovalls for Star Wars this year. And if we're unhappy with it we can always go back to PPH the following year.

Checking in. I'm signed up for the 10k, DW for the 5k, and DD for the HM. This will be my third DL race having done a 5k and a HM previously. DD and I ran the San Diego HM in March, and the Chargers 10k a couple of weeks ago. The weather for that 10k was hot & humid. I'm glad the Star Wars races are in January!

I am debating between my old standby, Anaheim Plaza, and the Stovall's. Stovall's does have breakfast but the parking is more expensive. Not sure how good a breakfast it is or whether they would have anything available early enough on race day?

breakfast after the race might be nice if there are still items there! i don't eat much before a race so it won't matter to me!
for me its deciding which side of the park do I want to stay on esp with hubby and 6 year old to think about too!
