Think about it this way. How long do we expect the actually controlling portion of the ride to be? 5 - 8 minutes or so? It has to exist at a level that an adult will be able to enjoy it without a long learning experience. This isn't going to be 47 switches... it's going to be relatively simple by necessity. The graphics I believe will be amazing. The illusion of control will be interesting. The level of difficulty? Minimal. That's the only way it's going to work.

I think it’s actually reversed there. It has to be easy enough for an adult that doesn’t game to use it and still impress a child that games heavily.
True true. I think it's actually both honestly at least in terms of what I'm thinking. If your button does virtually nothing-child or adult- you may find yourself quite disappointed. I think I was bouncing off the PP's comment regarding a child using it. Conceptually a child, depending on the height restriction which may determine the approximate lower age we're dealing with, may not understand just what to do so there's that consideration to deal with just as much as it is ensuring the adult, who may or may not play games but can understand directions well, feels the interaction at that level.

Reminds me of us playing Trouble last weekend with a 6 year old. While he loved the game he had trouble (no pun intended) following directions we gave him, listening to us when we would tell him it's his turn or not his turn, and paying attention. This is a kid who has known how to use a cell phone and a tablet since before he was 2. Not saying kids in general will be that but just saying it might be a challenge to get it where there's a happy medium.

I've thought about that aspect too. Will there be an infinite magazine, a rapid fire mode, a cool down stage, a shot/hit performance rating?

I doubt they will go with that level of detail. The cockpit has six seats each presumably with a different role. You are going to have all kinds of people riding this including people who don't speak English. The control are going to have to be simple enough that they can be learned with little to no explanation. In one of the preview videos for the ride you see a shot of a control lighting up and the guest pressing it. I think this is how the whole thing will work, it will simply be a matter of hitting a control when it lights up. Hit is fast enough, you did good, not fast enough or at all, you did bad.

There may also be an average level so to speak, so that if the user does nothing it doesn't sabotage the experience for the rest of the "crew", the same if there were to be an empty seat for some reason.

I think some people maybe over thinking this. I'm sure it will be a fantastic experience. But, most people will only be able to ride this once or twice a trip. I doubt there will be a ongoing score or a chance of a horrible experience. I'm thinking just slightly different outcomes based on the crews performance.

And because that’s how it’s been described by those that have ridden the models of it. Although supposedly it’s been toned down considerably.
I’d expect something WAY toned down, personally. My gut feeling is that some people’s expectations are way too high and unrealistic for this ride. Not MOST people - just a portion of those who are hyper-focused on every little tidbit coming out about this ride from day one.

Agreed. There can’t be too much variability in quality of experience based on any one role - pilot or not. That would just lead to WAY too much dissatisfaction when people will be waiting such a crazy amount of time just to ride this once a day or even maybe per trip for a while.

It also could have a variable level of difficulty - either set my the CM, automatically detected by the system based on initial performance, taking into account past experience, or a combination

So a kid playing their first time would have it set to “easy” and an wilt playing for the 400th time would be on “expert”

I agree that no way they would let it be a horrible experience for anyone no matter how bad any one person does - but could be that a “perfect score” would require everyone to do well just as you might not get to everywhere or every bonus shot chance, etc if the pilot is horrible

So others performance could impact you someway but not be the difference between like a A+ and D- or whatever

Actually, maybe if the pilot if horr Blenbut you still do fairly well as a gunner that helps you out a lot and your reputation is built as someone who can overcome added challenges (for example)

I agree. I do think the coveted pilot seat could lead to some family/friends "disagreements". Maybe the single rider line will actually have a shot at this seat.

I'm expecting a Mission Space kind of experience with much better theming and queue.

There will be littles who just can't respond quickly or are overwhelmed. Life happens.

WDW knows this. Thinking a family friendly no one is to blame and group hug kind of experience. With a big computer override for errors.

Can't imagine a 7 yr old would be dogged around the park for the rest of the day because she missed a shot and doomed the entire crew. Can you imagine? 2 or 3 awful interactions with CMs dressed as characters where they rubbed in that a child missed a big opportunity or blew up her ship and family. Nope.

Will have to be pleasant, nice and very forgiving for everyone's experience, age and circumstance.

Is there any other attraction where CM's dressed as characters interact with guests within the attraction?

I can think of Enchanted Tales With Belle maybe.
Indiana Jones maybe? Guests get to be part of the show. Obviously only a few guests though.

I think u have the most accurate and sensible conclusion. There is just way to many barriers for this to be setup like a video game that requires any amount of talent. There goin be different languages, difference in age, handicapped, special needs. I see this ride having several different phases or levels. For example, if u have enough people in ur group to fill all seats, u tell the dis rep and they can set it up so that it takes everybody to fly it and its set to a harder level. Next group that gets on dosent know each other so the rep sets it up where it more individual based. Or maybe there will b 2 seperate lines, one line is for more advance where the group has to work together to fly it and if someone screws up, u crash and the other line is easy where u get to experience the whole ride and just graded on individual skills. Either way, i believe it will be setup depending on the riders and a ride by ride basis.

Exactly! LoL - I'm not a gamer......unless you count SNES and Nintendo 64, which I'm sure you don't. I would be disappointed if I got there and it was too difficult for myself or my young children to operate. You would think that after the Star Wars super fans, that we are the people Disney caters to, so I can't imagine they would disappoint that entire group of people.

The Falcon Ride is going to be an interesting experiment. I suspect the ride itself will be an amazing display of technology and will create a extremely fun and enjoyable experience. What'll make it fun is how the different roles impact your experience. I'm sure they've thought about this, but I hope each role is engaging enough so you don't feel like you wasted your whole day in line.

I am not sure if the story line(s) can be woven and/or align, but I think it would be really interesting if during the Falcon attraction there is a launch from Batuu where you are escaping the First Order and see the Rise of the Resistance transport being captured by the Star Destroyer.
