Star Wars for someone who gets extremely motion sick

We have a trip planning in Sept and my husband is a Star Wars fan who does not do roller coasters - for reference, he felt sick in the non-moving seats on the Universal Minions attraction and wanted to ride the Harry Potter Hogwarts ride and, about a minute in, shut is eyes and tried not to throw up (he did not), he was fine on the ET ride and Cat-in-the-Hat rides.

My daughter and I have ridden ROTR and think my husband will be fine on that one. We haven't done the Smuggler's Run in our mom-daughter trips because she's not a Star Wars fan and I have never felt strongly enough to bribe her to ride it (I don't know how I got her to do ROTR, but she quite enjoyed that). Wondering about riding with my husband.

Thoughts?

HP - oh my. I've done it. Twice for some crazy reason. Walking thru the castle is quite enough! lol Smugglers run might have more of a possibility for motion sickness than ROTR does because its a screen you're looking at. I've done ok but could feel it. However, unlike HP it would be an easy one to just look at the instruments and the movement of the ride isn't anything HP. It would be survivable and if it turns out it's ok it's fun. Switching recommendation to Engineer or Gunner as I just recalled it was when I was pilot that I felt a tiny twinge of motion sickness. Not doing the others though.

Make your husband being the engineer so he can look at the buttons he needs to hit instead of the screen in front. There’s a part where the MF will drop in a hole so you have that fall visual and it jerks you around a bit.

Right pilot controls up/down, left pilot right/left but the screen is right in front of you.

As someone who get's motion sick myself, I found it to be a bit bumpy but it didn't trigger my motion sickness(which is fairly bad). It wasn't a constant shake, just the occasional hard bump here and there. Had more issues with my back than motion sickness on Smuggler's Run. I was the Engineer that day, so other roles may vary some.

It triggered me. I had to close my eyes alot to get it under control.

You probably know this already, but has he ever used Dramamine? My sister-in-law and 2 of my nieces suffer from motion sickness and they just pop one of the 24 hr less drowsy formula ones at breakfast every day at Disney and they can ride anything all day without feeling sick at all and it doesnt make them tired either.

Another good, all day(for three days), option is Scopolamine patches, if the person can tolerate them.

I get motion sickness and I can't look at the screen in Smugglers Run. But I am fine with Rise of the Resistance. There is a short section of the ride that I just close my eyes for and I am fine. It only lasts a few seconds, which makes it doable. :)

This, when you're in the Engineer spot (the back of the "ship", you are focused on the buttons you're supposed to push, and you don't really have time to spend looking at the "star field"....less likely to get motion sickness....and I am one of those people who gets extreme motion sickness. I have also done Orange on Mission Space....just stay focused in front of his field of vision, and he should be fine. Oh, and we did to Pilots once on Smuggler's Run....and that was pushing it.... :rotfl:

I get pretty motion sick too, and yes, even on Minions, although was in the regular seats. I just can't so those simulator rides. I still go on Star Tours though...and always have to close my eyes on most of it...I just try to vary when I closing them, but it gets me bad. Rise didn't affect me. Smuggler's Run didn't either, and I think that's because you're doing stuff and possibly looking away for moments, even as pilot. However, if someone does have motion sickness bad, better to be the engineer or gunner, then can just be pushing buttons, sneaking glances at the screens when possible.
A note on Harry Potter, FJ....I think it's one of the best rides ever, but it makes me so sick. I had to ride 3 times over our trip to see the whole thing, due to needing to close my eyes for a lot of it. I am so going to try Dramamine next trip.
