Star Wars Fireworks or Fantasmic?

If you have the option of attending the 10:30 Fantasmic show, I found it was much easier to go from the 9:45 Fireworks to the later Fantasmic show than try to go from the 9:00 Fantasmic show to the Fireworks. We found that by 9:00, the Main Street in front of the Chinese theater was already packed. So I can't imagine what viewing selections are left if you get out of the first Fantasmic show.
Just make sure you are centered and have a complete view of the Chinese theater for the show. We also found that HS has many many obstructed views from trees and buildings, making the show sometimes impossible to see.

It's like magic that when I have a question, someone has already posted it and voila....there it is. Thank you Mark Bishop! Wondering the same thing...going in August and we are watching Fantasmic. We were planning on seeing the first show but now, I may just watch the Star Wars show and then head to Fantasmic. Any concerns with crowds at Fantasmic once the fireworks are over?

We watched the Star Wars fireworks from the Echo Lake area on Memorial Day and it wasn't crowded in that area at all. Took some maneuvering to get a view that was unobstructed because of tress and such, but ultimately was worth staying off the main street

We did the 9:45 Star Wars show on opening night and were probably six rows back from the stage then as soon as it was over we snaked our way through the crowd and made it to the 10:30 Fantasmic at 10:16.

What about in July when there is only one fantasmic (last time I checked)

Right now, the calendar for July 3-9 has Fantasmic at 9 and Star Wars show at 9:15 - so no, not possible. However, the July calendar is still in flux, so I wouldn't make any plans based on those times yet.

That is no fun.

We are going over the 4th and I have been expecting hours to change, but they have been the same for months (other than AK, which is open later than MK every night). It is hard to believe that MK and HS hours in February, April, May, and June were longer than hours around the 4th of July. For the entire 10 day period we will be there MK does not open later than 10 pm for any night other than one EMH night. It was open quite late in February, and there were two Fantasmic shows in February and April. Only one in July. o_O

Dare I hope that means that WDW is sorely underbooked for that time period? A girl can dream.

That makes no sense... they're going to start shooting off fireworks in the middle of Fantasmic?

Which days are you looking at? I see Sunday July 3, MK open till 1 AM with EMH till 3 AM. Monday July 4 MK till 1 AM. I see both MK and AK until 11 PM most other days that week.

They updated the hours finally, but it is not impressive. MK is now open 9am-11pm for the next 10+ days after July 4th--compared to midnight for the same dates last year. What concerns me even more is that they have varied hours for the last two weeks of July (some 8am openings, other midnight closings) though still many fewer overall hours than last year.

DHS closes at 9:30 everyday with one Fantasmic! at 9pm and the SW fireworks at 9:15. This was updated two days ago and is the same across every aspect of the disney website and app. Usually when hours are still in flux, the various Disney platforms are not consistent--these are. Compared to last year at DHS with a 10pm closing, fireworks at 9:30 and the ability to catch either of the two Fantasmic shows, this would be extremely disappointing. I would think the pyrotechnics from the SW fireworks would be distracting during Fantasmic!, unless they are unusually lame...

I suppose they were getting complaints about Fantasmic! filling to capacity and limited viewing areas for the new SW fireworks. Instead of increasing opportunities for people to view their two big shows, they decided to make people choose one or the other. :confused3

They must have updated this morning. I looked early this morning and the 3rd was EMH from 10-12 and every other night was 10 pm.
