I want to get 6yo DS the Star Wars movies for his birthday. I do a search on Amazon, and there are a TON of options. All I want are the 6 movies. DVD (we don't have blue ray). I don't care about special display boxes.

Or does anyone know a better location to get them from?

I generally order dvds from Amazon or Deep Discount DVD. Sometimes Walmart (online) will price match what Amazon is selling for. You're probably going to find that you have to buy the original trilogy in one set and the prequel trilogy in another. There is no "complete" box set I am aware of.....and I have multiple sets of them........I'm just a geek that way. Every box set comes with some kind of bonus material. If you want just the movies you can buy each separate, but it would probably end up costing more than just buying the 2 sets. Personally I would recommend the original trilogy be purchased in the separate movie additions that have both the original release and the special addition release. But then I'm a sucker for seeing them like I saw them when I was a kid.....without the added in CGI. My kids however like the later as that's what they saw first.

regards

dont have to worry about looking for blu-ray ones anyway they wont be out till late 2011 or 2012...

I have ones from wal-mart cant remember what i paid for them but they came in packs they were probably $40 a year or two ago as i rarely buy over that price if that helps you any.

My mom actually got ds a box set of all 6 in one set for Christmas this past year. She found it online somewhere and it came from somewhere in Japan. We were worried that it was going to be bootlegged or something but they all play perfectly. If you are interested, let me know and I'll see if she remembers where she got it from.

Those are really good ones. We got movies 4-6 individually with the second disk in the case being the original version of it, and we LOVE having the option of watching the "fancy" version or the original one. Another way of putting it...do you want Star Wars when Han shoots first, or the remake? ;) DS goes back and forth with what he wants to see.

We've still only bought Phantom Menace, but they had sort of matching versions, similar low cost, of it. (we haven't bought the others b/c we don't feel #3 is appropriate for DS, and we are rather liberal with what movies he watches...but even I haven't seen #3 as DH thinks I would hate it for many reasons, and we haven't bought #2 b/c we just haven't yet)

Lucas is a marketing GENIUS, which is why there are so many editions. He knows his audience, and knows that different people like different things AND that there's a subset out there that will want *everything*.
