We have booked a seven day Fantasy cruise that includes a Star Wars Day at Sea. I think there is a special themed meal but what else takes place? Anyone been on a cruise during one of these? Thanks!

I have been asking about SWDAS for a little while now....people seem, ummmmmmmm, underwhelmed by it all.
IDK
looking forward to seeing your responses.
btw, we're sailing in Feb 2017

Go here: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/personal-navigators/

Click on Disney Fantasy tab and scroll down to the Navigators from the past Star Wars cruises to see what activities were available then. It will be similar.

We had fun on our SWDAS cruise (Feb 6th). We're not extreme SW fans and didn't have any expectations before going. SW is one day for the most part and the rest of the cruise is normal. On that day there are character meet and greets, SW themed activities, guest speaker, costume contest, roaming characters, pool patrol, themed food during the day and special menu at night. There's also a SW night show with fireworks and a buffet. I think the best part of our day was people watching! There were some crazy costumes and people were into the day. They also played SW music throughout the ship. We went this time because there was a Fl resident deal so we'd go again if there was another deal. We're glad they extended it to the Eastern itinerary because we're not big Cozumel fans

Thanks so much for the link to the trip report! It is excellent...lots of description and photos. I totally enjoyed it and I am now more excited for our cruise!

Thanks for sharing! I was wondering if we had to wear costumes all day or if it was just a dinner thing and now I know.

For anyone who has gone- we have a Very Excited Grandson who would love one of their light sabers (looks like they probably sell them in the evening since they light up). Does Anyone know if it breaks down in size so that we can get it in the luggage to bring home on the plane?? Or should we bring the one from Disneyland, that one does assemble in segments but I just know he would love to get a Disney cruiseline one onboard. Just don't want to have to leave it behind- anyone able to get it into their luggage, hopefully if we pack clothing all around it, it will make the trip intact!!

Thanks for the shoutout @TestingH2O !!

We did indeed have a great time. There was some negative feedback on the cruises right before ours. I think they did take some of the feedback into consideration, like increasing the number of Jedi Training sessions a day, and providing more decor for the nighttime buffet. In essence though, what made the day special was the fan interaction and the fact that you can geek out with fellow costumers, speak Jedi to one another, have a spontaneous lightsaber match, chase stormtroopers around the ship, get a selfie with a Jawa, eat Bantha Empanadas, among many other things, and that was "normal" that day. I was so happy to be part of it, but can't wait to see how it evolves. I will definitely be going on another SWDAS in the future especially if they roll out new stuff!

That is a good question which I unfortunately don't know the answer to. I believe the multi-colored light up ones which they sell on the cruise...that one looks retractable to me, but I honestly can not remember. I saw kids bringing lightsabers on and off the ship and they weren't the retractable kind and they only lit up to one color. Sorry I don't have a more definite answer but maybe someone who bought a lightsaber on the ship can respond.

Keeping my fingers crossed that someone encountered this decision- how to get it on the flight. I have seen some youtube videos of the Star Wars deck party last year and the sabers were definitely a popular item- i know he's going to want one for his 'collection' 8-) But would love to be prepared in case they don't break down to fit in the checked bag as the carry on will have quite enough souvenirs!! Everything looks Amazing- thanks for posting

Yes. The lightsabers on board are the ones that break down to smaller sizes. Easy to fit in the luggage and very fun on deck the night of the Star Wars party! But there is nothing "cruise" about the lightsaber. It's pretty standard issue.

THANK YOU!! It looked so dazzling on youtube with them all flickering up on deck before and during the fireworks, but if they are rather simplistic i may just bring his from the Disneyland Park, it breaks down and does sound effects. Or maybe Disney will have a newer edition this year for SWASD... at least he won't be devestated that he might have to leave it behind, very greatful that Disney thought ahead and made them packable. Thank you so much for sharing!

You could always bring his, and don't tell him. If there's a better one on board, get that. If not, then bring his out.

Also, if you'll have any time at Disney Springs, or HS, you can make/buy light sabers in both places. I think the DS location is in Once Upon a Toy (unless that's changed) and, of course, the HS location is in Star Tours shop, maybe other places, as well.

Excellent idea, don't know why I didn't think of that, I think he will enjoy carrying it around during the day if I bring his from DL and if he wants one from the ship- what 7 yr old feels he has too many light sabers- he loves Star Wars. Just glad to know they are luggage friendly and can segment. We don't go until Feb so hoping to see if they change them any for this SWASD season, I know their items for Alaska really change from year to year.
