Star Wars Celebration IV set for May '07 - What happens at Disney/MGM?

I just read that Lucas Film has announced that Star Wars Celebration IV has been scheduled at the L.A. Convention Center from Thursday, May 24 to Monday, May 28, 2007.

Wonder if this means that Star Wars Weekends at Disney/MGM Studios will be changed or canceled for '07? The dates are right in the middle of the usual schedule for Star Wars Weekends (Memorial Day Weekend).

Last year they had Celebration III in Indianapolis, and they still had SW Weekends, in fact they even extended them two extra weeks. The only difference was that I believe C III was at the end of April. We'll just have to wait and see. Maybe they won't have them for that weekend or maybe all in June instead of May and June. I do know that they have skipped years for SW Weekends in the past, but I'm not sure if it was during the other Celebration years.

I am curious as to the dates of MGMs Star Wars weekend for 2007. There is a good chance that Star Wars weekend will be happening the same time as my future husband and I are on our honeymoon. If that happens, I might not see him the whole trip LOL.

Last year was the first year they held SW Weekends during a year in which they also held Star Wars Celebration. In 2002, they didn't hold SW Weekends. I'm wondering too as a cancellation of SW Weekends next year would mean I'm not going to WDW. I'm thinking of going solo for SW Weekends.

You can be sure that no Star Wars celebrities will be available to Disney/MGM during the dates that SWC-IV is happening. This was the reason that there were no Star Wars Weekends during SWC-II in 2002. I'm making a guess that maybe DL may finally get in on the Star Wars Weekends. Since SWC-IV is going to be in LA, I will be planning to include DL in my trip. Lucas has announced that there will be special events occuring in conjunction with SWC-IV beginning the weekend before. This opens the door to possibly something special at DL. I know the people out there have been complaining for years that they are left out so maybe they'll finally be included officially. WDW has said that they will continue SWW in 2007 but they will obviously need to alter their dates to accomodate LucasFilms plans. I for one hope they move them to a less HOT time of year.

We are planning our first trip to DLR to coincide with Star Wars Celebration IV. The wife wanted to go back to WDW in 2007, but when I told her about CIV at the LA Convention Center in 2007, and that DLR is only about 30 miles from LA, it only made sense to do both during the same trip. One roundtrip flight to CA from MI, and we get our SW and Disney fix all in one shot.

Now we need to figure out where to stay at DLR and in LA. It would be nice to just stay in one hotel, and then commute to DLR and the LA convention center. Does anyone have any thoughts on how this could be done? Taxis would be expensive. Maybe staying in 2 different hotels, each near each event, would be best?!!? Thoughts?!

If they do some special SW CIV/DLR package deal, that would be the cat's meow!
