I was wondering what all is in this area. How much time should I a lot seeing it? We like Star Wars but don't "crazy" like it.

We love Star Wars but don't consider this area a must do. It seems like a character meet and greet area for Kylo Ren and Chewbacca along with some Star Wars artifacts. Doesn't really appeal to me.

Short behind the scenes video, kylo ren and chewbacca meet and greet, games, costumes and props, artwork and collectibles.

You can spend 10 min there or 2 hours. Since you guys aren't big on Star Wars I'd probably just plan for 20 min or so

I'd suggest around a half hour, possibly longer if the characters have long lines. Definitely stop and see the Jawas!

I was at Launch Bay on Wed Sept 14th with a very excited little girl who spent a lot of time gathering trinkets and glittering said trinkets to trade with the Jawas. She went up to the first one who ignored her - then another who also declined - then a cast member said the Jawas weren't trading that day. Apparently they don't trade everyday. I had really wished I hadn't built it up so much with my daughter because she was pretty bummed out about this change of events. We thought they traded everyday.

I have a question. i paid for Star Wars dessert party. We are doing one day of DHS for the entire day. Would you recommend skipping the launch bay altogether and saving it for the dessert party? How long is the meet and greet for Chewy and Ren during the dessert party?

So sorry That must have been so disappointing for both your daughter and yourself. They should have some sort of sign posted if they are not trading

We did the dessert party at the end of August and I would say you could definitely skip the Launch Bay and get a good look around during the party. The character M&G lines were 10 minutes for one and 15 for the other (can't remember which wait was for which). We did not to the M&G and we had a lot of idle time during the dessert party, so definitely doable to meet them during the party.

WOW, I didn't know they don't trade everyday. There's been threads about trading with Jawas but this is first time I heard they don't trade everyday. How disappointing for your daughter.
When we went in April, I didn't know about Jawas trading so when I tried to take picture of my sons with them, they kept running off so I had to settle with picture with Jawas as a a "background" picture. lol!

BIGMAC5 and ALICE777 -- thank you! It was incredibly disappointing! She handled it well though but her eyes were welling up with tears as she put her glittered trinkets away. Another really nice cast member saw what had happened - came over and asked if she liked chewbacca. She nodded and her said come with me -- 2 minutes later back door entry to the chewbacca meet and greet. So that part was very nice and we were very appreciative!

The Jawas are in character, and for kids who are not SW fans, it is confusing. The Jawas want various things to rebuild their junk so they can resell it. And they are shady characters, and are in the business of ripping people off, they are not well respected folks. I am glad they do act like this, but for kids who want them to accept every item offered for trade, or to exchange their item for something of "equal value", it can be confusing.

I would suggest 2 things, bring several different type items to offer to trade, and show them the Jawas in the SW movies before the trip, so they can know these are not really nice guys, lol.

PS I thought they also traded every day.

There's no line for the Jawas. They roam and don't stay in one spot for to long. If you want a picture all you have to do is ask.

Yes. What I meant was when they were roaming around, we tried to take picture with them. We did ask but everytime they walked away from us.

We probably spent 30 minutes at the Launch Bay. Saw Chewbacca twice with a short wait, then went right in to see Kylo Ren. He scared me, my heart was pounding with his creepy talk! We saw Storm Troopers walk through, looked at some of the stuff on display and then ran into the Jawas and my son traded with one of them. I was apprehensive about telling my 4yo son about the trading in case it didn't work out. We had actually purchased a few inexpensive trinkets to trade and then forgot them on the resort dresser so he just pulled out the pressed penny he had made earlier that day (the Jawa gave him a small Mickey button which he was thrilled with).

We were there, too. The CM told me that they were out of the items that the Jawas usually trade so they were not trading that day. She said more items had been ordered but hadn't arrived.

Does Jawas mostly trade with children or would they trade with adults? My son is 28 but loves doing something like this.
