Starting research so can plan our HS studio day when we come in August.

I know there are two rides: Smugglers Run (no FP) and Rise of the Resistance (no FP but boarding groups).

Aside from walking through the land (which I assume is something to see in itself), what else is there at no cost? At the pricing I'm seeing, we'll skip building a lightsaber and droid.

It looks like there are shops (no surprise) and food options, but what else do you do there? How much time to allocate when planning other HS attractions?

P.S. - Is the queue for Smuggler's Run inside or outside? We'll be coming in the heat so hoping inside/shaded.

At no cost there's the play Disney app, there's a datapad with many, many things to do around thre land, you hack, scan, translate. I would recommend watching some YouTube videos to get a better understanding
Also there are characters roaming around
The falcon queue is inside unless the line is longer than 90 min, that's when it spills out
As for how much time to devote to the land it really depends, i can spend hours walking around, playing with the app or just engaging with characters and cm. Others just walk through once and that's enough for them

Thank you. I'll try and find some YouTube videos. Sounds like there are the 2 formal attractions but still lots to look at and character sitings.

And thank you too about explaining the Smuggler's Run queue. Good to know that it's indoor unless really long...very good for August summer.

Yes...we would include Star Tours. We went on that last itme, but good to know that they have made some changes. Can't wait.

Has Disney stated somewhere how long the boarding groups will be in effect for ROTR? We're going in mid-February and I was assuming I couldn't even count on them happening that long - Smuggler's Run is already to standby-only, right?

No, they haven’t said and I’m sure they won’t commit. At least not too far out.

And yes Smugglers run is still stand by only.

No they haven't, MFSR has always been standby

Good question from the person we asked. Our trip (OP here) isn't until August but for now, I'm assuming we will have boarding groups too.

Wondering how it works...am guessing most get to HS super early to get a boarding group....and then head right for Smuggler's Run? The stand by line must get pretty long first thing in the morning.

i have been wondering about this as well. would it be more beneficial to head straight to smuggler's run at rope drop or will the wait times lessen throughout the day?
