The new "in between" Star Wars movies are to be called "Star Wars Anthology" films. A plot synopsis for the first film, Rogue One, was released during Star Wars Celebration. The movie takes place between Episodes 3 and 4 (although relatively close to 4).

The film will be released December 2016. While there was a "sizzle reel" released during Celebration, Disney has not started filming yet.
The movie stars Felicity Jones (from A Theory of Everything) and directed by Godzilla director Gareth Edwards.
Note: These are not the "many Bothans", because when they were mentioned, it was about information on the second Death Star during Return of the Jedi.
