My boyfriend and I have never seen any Star Wars film and probably won't by the time our trip comes around. Are the Star Wars themed rides worth it? We also have Droid Depot scheduled because we think the droids look super cool and it might be fun to make. However, it's $100 so not sure how much it is worth it if you're not a fan...

So, when we had planned to do US a few years back, we had never seen Harry Potter. Not one film. Before we left we tried our best to cram in a couple movies just so we understood what we were seeing. When I walked ito the land for the first time, my eyes were watery and I was in awe because it felt like you were IN the movie! It was incredible!!!! I know you’re not going to fit in 9 movies, but maybe you can at least try to watch The Force Awakens, or at least one of any of the three original films before going. I personally think it helps the experience. If you’re not interested in watching the movies at all, I’m sure making a droid would be a fun experience for you. Helps you feel like your part of everything, I think. Have fun!

The short answer to your question is: yes.

I'm not a Star Wars fan, although I have seen a few of the films, and I was blown away by SWGE and RotR. I had a similar experience at Pandora in DAK, which I went to before I'd ever seen Avatar.

If you like innovation, adventure, fabulous architecture and landscaping, being in an immersive environment created by masters of the craft, and being awed by your surroundings, then you will love Star Wars Galaxy's Edge.

RotR is not a ride, per se, it's an experience. There's a reason people are getting to the park an hour before opening and standing in line to get on a boarding group for this ride. We did it twice two weeks ago. Totally worth it.

Unless your trip is, like, tomorrow, I don’t understand why you’re not willing to at least watch a couple Star Wars movies before going. A small amount of time invested to have a better experience.

Have you enjoyed Splash Mountain without seeing Song of the South, or Haunted Mansion without seeing the movie, or the many attractions at WDW that are not based on movies:Jungle Cruise, Expedition Everest, Rock n Rollercoaster...
Obviously watching the movies will give you an extra layer of understanding and will unlock some of the easter eggs that are hidden all around the land where you might just pass by them and not give them a second thought. But the Imagineers built the land and offerings with all types of WDW visitors in mind.
As for the droid, do you enjoy building an rc unit and then playing with it every once in a while, customize it to your liking? then yes, you will enjoy the DD

Haunted Mansion is a weird example when the movie came out like 40 years after the attraction lol... but I agree with you.

well yeah, I'm just saying, some people's introduction to Pirates was the movie first then the attraction. I'm sure the same will happen once Jungle Cruise movie comes out

I have 2 small kids who have only watched half of Force Awakens. They loved every minute of SWGE, including Ogas Cantina and building their droids. The themes and characters of Star Wars are very classic good vs evil and easy to understand. Every detail from the food to the sinks in the bathrooms adds to the immersion and feeling like you are on another planet. The rides are incredible, thrilling experiences. And hey, if it’s truly not your cup of tea, Tot Story Land is right next door. :)
