So I wanted to get my friends here opinions on something.

We are working on the assumption that they add the show for June. We are going to the Studios on Tuesday at rope drop. Know we won't spend the whole day there. Just trying to wrap my mind around the idea if I want to bus back for the show. I know we could maybe sneak in a ride or two.....so.....

What is your opinion....would you go back mainly for this.....ps....we have 3 Star Wars fans in the group of 4.

Just saw it about an hour ago.
I can tell you that I, myself, would not make a solo trip to see it again.

And, I DO also LOVE Star Wars.

We MUCH preferred the Star Wars fireworks from last year.
We did make multiple trips to DHS to see those.

The current show is very good, but guests are forced into a much too small area to see them.
And, the projections are marred by being projected on the bizarrely-contorted Chinese Theater facade (with its intrusive signage.)
And... there are far, far, FAR too many other obstructions, even if you happen to get an otherwise good viewing spot.

I have not seen it but if you have 3 SW fans I think it would be worth going back for and checking out

Looking back at the show and my "review" above, it's not so much the SHOW that I found fault with,
(its a good show) but its the very poor VENUE into which too many guests are forced... to see it.

The hub in MK can allow many thousands of guests an optimal view for the projection and fireworks shows there.

The WS Lagoon at Epcot offers countless "great views" of IllumiNations.

But, the tiny courtyard (with it numerous obstructions) at DHS just cannot accommodate enough guests who want to see the current Star Wars show, and to see it at a favorable angle.

Exactly this. It has been a problem since the beginning, not the show but the venue. Paris just debuted their Season of the Force and this show is done on the facade of the Tower of Terror, of course here it wouldn't be an option, but a much better view for sure

Yes, totally worth the trip back to HS. I am not a huge Star wars fan, but this is one of the best fireworks shows I have ever seen at Disney.

Does paying for the dessert party alleviate this problem? Or even with that can viewing be an issue?

i wonder why these fireworks aren't listed on the DIS calendar of park hours, parades and fireworks.

We are here now (Jan 22, 2017) and I didn't know this wasn't happening until walking around Epcot last night and saw fireworks from DHS. Are they every night? What time? Maybe we could make it over to DHS tonight to see them.

Is this a different fireworks show since last April? We went to the Star Wars dessert party and LOVED the fireworks! I was hoping to do the same with DH when we head down in November since he wasn't with us and he's a huge SW fan.

I'll be disappointed if A-There is no dessert party or B-they are doing different SW fireworks.

The fireworks show was called Symphony in the Stars, pre June, this new show is not a fireworks show per se, more of a projection, laser, fire effects with some fireworks, it started in June and it's called A Galactic Spectacular

If you ask me, the party would be a waste of everything except... that it gives you something to do (eat) while you are waiting for your obstructed view.

Those were the best fireworkks I've ever seen! I hope this new show is just as good!

There is a SW dessert party but the party you attended in April was outdoors where the viewing area for the new party is located.
The new party is much different than the party in April. Some people like it better and some don't.

Thanks! I guess I'll wait and see if it's even offered.

HaHa! We liked the party last April! The desserts were amazing and the view was great! It would have been nice to have a chair, but that was our onlyy complaint :-)

you can see people's reviews on the new dessert party on the SW thread in my signature, on the first page you will see everything about it.

They were excellent, but just like the two parties are different, so are the shows, they shouldn't be compared to each other.

If there is a projection/fireworks show, there is a dessert party and no reason to think that it will change during your visit.

That sentiment is expressed by many guests, they just assume that chairs are provided. The description on MDE states that seating is not available.
That's also the case with the Illuminations dessert party.

:thanks:

The chair thing was in no way a deal-breaker of us, but would have been a nice addition.

I think it's worth seeing if you haven't ever seen it. Just keep in mind it's a projector show more than a fireworks show. You'll need a view of the screens to enjoy it. Most, if not all views are obscured by at least something.
