Star Tours with a 3 year old

My DS will have just turned 3 a few weeks before going to Disney. I know some said Star Tours is kind of Jerky and makes people sick. Do you think it is too much for a 3 year old? trying to determine fast passes.

Not sure of the height requirement, but I'd say if he's tall enough he would be fine.

We just took our 3.5 year old on it. It almost made me sick from the motion, but I looked away a couple of times. I don't normally feel sick on rides. I repeated several times that it is not scary, then he came out of it not scared. We were just taking a fun, pretend ride. HTH!

I took my son on when he was 3 and he did NOT like it at all. I think the 3D with the movement was just too much for him, he just kept asking if it was over yet. He ended up just closing his eyes and holding my hand throughout the whole thing.

My kids went on at 3 and they all loved it. I think it depends on the child though....

I think of all the simulator rides I've been on, Star Tours is the least rough. Back to the Future at Universal almost killed me but I have no problem with Star Tours.

Best advice is to just give it a try. If he meets the height requirement then there is no reason not to. You can tell him that if he gets scared or doesn't feel good to just close his eyes tight until the end. Star Tours sometimes makes me a little flushed on the first go, but it is generally more tame than other simulators, especially those at Universal.

We took DD5 1/2 on it in October and she HATED it. Started crying almost immediately and didn't stop until it was over.

She has sensory processing issues though and I think the 3D aspect was just too much for her.

My son was fine on Star Tours when he had just turned 3yo. Meanwhile we had to exit It's Tough to be a Bug, he was petrified. You just never know.

My DD was not a big thrill ride kid ( she is a little better at age 9, but still not overly fond of them). When she was little, I told her before she got on Star Tours that unlike BTMRR (which she hated with a passion at age 3 or 4 and still won't set foot on again), in Star Tours it would seem like she was flying and going places, but really it was just a room sitting the same place that is bouncy that makes you feel like you are moving. For her, that did the trick. She adored Star Tours. That and Peter Pan were her favorites. I; however, learned that twice in a row on Star Tours is fine, but 3 times in a row is not good for me (can't do the teacups with DD and DH either). I think it is fine, but I would follow his lead on whether he wants to try it. As far as FP+, with the tiers at DHS and limited attractions, might as well FP+ that one. A lot of times the line is short, but if you happen to hit it right after the Indiana Jones show gets out, the line can get really long.

It really depends on your child. My 5 year old girl loves it, my sisters 5 year old boy hated it.

I went on once many years ago and wasn't a fan. I thought I would give it another try for my niece and mom. We all felt awful. It may not be scary, but it can certainly put a damper on the fun if he feels sick from the simulator.

Neither of my kids would have appreciated it at all at the age of 3.

If the 3 year old can make the height req, try it. Be sure he knows to stand straight and tall and that there will be a second place to get measured.

When DS was little and went on it, a woman suggested that he sit cross-legged on the seat rather than have his legs sticking out, and it worked VERY well. Kept him from moving around too much on the seat.

But when DS was little, it wasn't 3D. I think 3D would have really messed with my guy. Especially if you end up with the story on Naboo where you're under the water, come up, and crash into a dock thing and your windshield gets pierced. That's pretty scary! It still gets to me sometimes!

I'm with you. Looking away, looking at people, closing my eyes, works well for things like ST, Simpsons at Universal, Soarin', even the green side of Mission Space. For something like the *orange* side of MS, please do NOT look away, but for normal simulators like ST, at least for me it's just fine.
