Star Tours soft opening??

Heading to WDW 5/8-5/13. Any chance of a soft opening of Star tours? Rode Mission Space and Manta at SeaWorld several times a few weeks before official opening. Any rumors or info floating about?? Thanks in advance

It is seemingly less and less likely as we get closer. They announced preview openings for DL weeks ago.

Pixie - we will be there the same dates and were wondering the same thing....I havent seen anything announced or anyone posting about it yet....but lets keep out fingers crossed !!

Today is the first I'm hearing of rumblings that there may be soft openings...as early as today! Nothing confirmed yet, but there appears to be a fair amount of training going on for CMs this morning which is a good sign.

Yay! I rode Spaceship Earth when it re opened in soft opening. Going to HS on Fri so I will check a few times then!

I rode Pirates a day before it was supposed to open. I remember the Times Board still had it listed as closed, but when I walked by, it was open.

I'm hoping to ride Star Tours on Thurs. May 19 as we arrive on 5/18 and we want to avoid the crowds on SWW.

We'll be there the week of the 16th, and boy, I'm sure hoping there's a soft opening... I would be willing to try it on the morning of the 20th, but if we could avoid the insane crowd that is sure to be there, we'd be thrilled.

Hearing now from StarTours2Live that they are actually concerned about the number of tweets speculating about soft openings, and they are even removing some of the banners they put up to not make it seem like they are opening...

Well, I'm starting to like the sound of this! Star Tours has been one of my favorite rides since it opened, and I found out only a month ago that it was closed for refurbishment after my girlfriend and I booked a trip for next week. We'll be at DHS on the 13th, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll be able to catch a soft opening! Btw, if they do have a soft opening on the 13th, will there be any way for me to know what time(s) it will be open? It would absolutely kill me to be there and never know about it!

Matt (or whoever is tweeting under the account) has been hanging out all day just waiting to see if there is a soft opening. As he says, he's watched about "4000 performances of JTA"...

The feedback today is not encouraging for a soft opening.

Cast Members have been notified that they may be selected for special "cast experience" dates, which are on either May 24th or 26th - which is after the official opening. This could indicate that there is no plan for CM preview runs.

I've been hearing that the ride systems are not ready yet, and may be causing problems they are still working out...

Yeah, it's been amusing to follow the tweets! Lots of interaction with CMs and other guests over it. I feel kinda bad for whoever it is that's taken up the cause of standing out there.

It certainly is looking kinda bad for soft openings. I'm trying to keep my hopes up...we'll be there 15-20, and from the sounds of things due to the timing of the "dedication ceremony" on the 20th, we wouldn't be able to get in and out in time to catch out flight.

Revisiting some older threads. Star Tours opened for a soft opening this past Saturday, and has opened each day since, and has been open for most of the park hours. No telling if it will continue, but reports I've heard is that everything is working well with 5 of 6 simulators fully running, and the 6th being tweaked.

I just got home last night and was there on Saturday. We were in EPCOT, at Canada, when I got a tweet from StartTours2Live that it opened. We grabbed the next boat over to DHS and went right to Star Tours. The wait was only 10 minutes. I got off and right back on for another 10 minute wait. We had dinner at Mama Melrose and when we got out, I convinced my wife to let me go one more time (she didn't ride it, since she avoids the rides with motion). The line was already inside the building when we got on, but there must have been a service disruption, since we stopped moving for a while.

All I have to say is I love the new version. The 3-D effects are great and for those who are wondering, I had glasses on and the 3-D glasses fit comfortably over mine.
