Star Tours questions

We'll have two 10 year old boys with us this summer...I think this one will be a hit.

Can anyone post the link to the video of the ride? I've had a look on Youtube but there are so many I'm wondering if someone would be able to give me a good one.

Can't wait to try this ride! Have never been on it and think it will be fab.

:hippie:

try it, you may like it and if you dont try it, you will never know. No reason a 6 yr old who is into star wars wouldnt enjoy this ride.

every year, they grow and change..it is always worth trying a ride to see how they are feeling about it this year

The new Star Tours isn't nearly as rough as the old one was. It is a superb experience, and you never know which ride you are going to get.

The queue is fine, but I don't know that it would be a lot of fun to stand in if you weren't going to ride.

OP, you aren't looking to be convinced, but you really ought to consider riding. Ride once, if you don't like it like it, don't ride again... but life is way too short to skip rides because of maybes and might nots. I think that you are missing out on potential magic with your son.

I so agree with this!! and simply put, we arent you..what you may like or not like, may not jive with everyone else's opinion. I think, people should try for themselves and then judge.

I have a Star Wars obsessed 6 year old son. However, Star Tours is too intense for him I think. I've been on the original, haven't been on the new one and DH and DS have never been on either.

I watched the youtube video of the ride and I don't think any of us will do it. I remember being queasy when I came out last time and it looks to be even more intense now.

My questions are, is there a way to see the queue and then not go on the ride? He'd LOVE the queue area that I saw on youtube!

Also, at the end of the old ride there used to be an area as you headed into the gift shop that had Darth Vader's costume on display. Is that still there? I am hoping we can go through the shop to see this if it made it through the refurbishment.

I'm not looking to be convinced to let him ride, I just want to know if we can see some Star Wars stuff WITHOUT actually riding the ride. Thanks for your help!

We are a family of Star Wars loving fools and my 6 year old has loved this ride for as long as he was tall enough to ride it. I will say that even though I enjoyed the original version I could ride it maybe twice before I had to sit and let the green coloring leave my face. Now the ride is much smoother and I think with the enhanced graphics it doesn't seem to bother me like it used to. It is still jerky and bumpy but I honestly don't feel like it is as bad as the original.

The Darth Vader, Darth Maul and model of a Tie Fighter are in the area after Backlot Tours. Tatooine Traders does have some great goodies though.

You can walk into the Star Wars store from the walkway that goes past Star Tours on the right.

Years ago my son loved Star Wars but did not think he would like the ride. The CM let everyone on the ride and we stayed back. He opened a panel that was a window to the actual ride. You could see the ride vehicle moving and a black and white monitor showing all the people on the ride. He thought is was so cool that he wanted to ride it.

OP here - We all watched the youtube video and decided we'll try it. My DH and I DEFINITELY are riding it, and I think my DS will be fine. When I really watched the video closely it doesn't seem too jerky or anything so we're going to do it.

I'm getting conflicting reports here of whether or not the Villians display is still up at the end of the Backlot Tour - has anyone seen it lately? He would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see the Darth Maul character - I'm more of a traditional Darth Vader girl myself .....

When we were there mid-January the Villians exhibit was still at the end of the Backlot Tour.

My very reserved five year old LOVED it. He would not do a lot of the other trill rides and was not a fan of BTMR. He would not wear the glasses the first time but after that he did agree to try them and loved it even more. My DH has major motion sickness and back issues and he rode it with no issues. He did not love it...but was fine. DS loved the quell area as well. If you decide to not ride, go through the line and tell them you have changed your mind and need an exit.
