Do these rides give you motion sickness. I have never been on them b4. I always waited outside with my youngest while my husband took the older one(s). Since it will just be my husband and myself this time I can try them.....BUT....I have a squemish tummy...and I don't want to get sick....What are you opinions???

Well, Star Tours can definitely give you motion sickness, but closing your eyes will help curb it since you won't have the visual of the ride.

Space is a roller coaster in the dark (you probably already knew that, huh?) ;) I'd say if you can handle the Matterhorn or BTMRR then you can handle Space.

I can barely handle elevators but for some reason LOVED the rides. I could do the teacups and my DH couldn't :rotfl2: (we got a big kick out of that!) Space Mountain: LOVED it! Star Tours: LOVED it!

I think you just have to try it and see if you can handle it. I hope you can, they are GREAT rides!

I love all kinds of rides, but Star Tours is NOT at the top of my list. It's very jerky, and I just don't like the feeling I get when I'm on it. Kindof gives me a headache. Space Mountain, on the other hand, is a very smooth roller coaster in the dark and lots of fun. :thumbsup2

I have a major issue with getting car sick, and I'm fine on Space Mountain. However, I can't go on Star Tours without feeling terrible afterwards.

Star Tours seems to give a lot of people motion sickness. So I big yes on that one. Even my husband gets motion sickness on it, and he usually can handle most things! My son however, loves it! So DH gets to get sick basically. LOL Me I don't go near it!

Space Mountain is okay though. If you like rollercoasters. :)

Star Tours can actually induce headaches, which can become migraines. I enjoy the ride but not every trip. Space can make me sick to my stomach but I still love it. Again, don't do it every trip but since we go regularly I don't have to. Before AP's I rode them both at least once each time.

I love Space Mountain, but it can leave me a little bit dizzy and disoriented because of the flashing lights at the very end. I've found that if I close my eyes for that part, it lessens the dizziness significantly.

My dh gets motion sickness from Stars Tours and any other motion simulator ride. He can't do IMAX movies either. So Soarin' is definitely out of the question for him. He is fine on Space Mountain and any other ride that actually moves foward although he is not a fan of spinning rides like the Teacups.

I don't really like star wars.... but of course my son LOVED it so my GREAT mom kept taking him cause i didn't like it!!! Noramlly i LOVE all rides but that ones jsut not my favorite...i would probley go on it once a trip but that would be it!

I have no problems with Space Mountain, but Star Tours leaves me queesy. Same thing with DBF. DD has no problems at all with it though.

I agree with PP. I get motion sickness too, although terribly (I do get it from video games). I love SM, no probs there, but Star Tours is very jerky and I do get headaches/migraines at times. I do try to tough it out once every few trips though. And even though it gave me headaches as a child, I loved it then!!

Have fun!!

I get motion sickness quite a bit - the Teacups is NOT my kind of ride! So neither is Star Tours, though I am glad I did it and toughed my way thru - it was fun, though nauseating!
The coasters were ok, simply because they were fast and you don't really focus on any one thing...I didn't do Space Mtn, so I can't comment.

Just don't do it right after lunch!!:lmao:

::yes:: EWW star tours makes me so ill, but I love Star Wars!
I do close my eyes and it helps a bit.
No problem on SM , but the rockets are iffy, sometimes good sometimes

I like both rides. (yeaa)

However, if you get a little squeamish, but go on Star Tours anyway, sit towards the front. The back rows have more movement.

DH used to work on Star Tours and told me the lift for that attraction is in the back and therefore you will feel a lot more movement. There is apparently a "hot seat" but I forgot which one it is. Sit in the first 3 rows. My kids love that ride and it gets me dizzy. The last time we went I just sat back and closed my eyes the entire time and I didn't get dizzy and honestly I almost fell asleep :rotfl:

As for Space Mtn or California Screaming...once in a while they get me dizzy but that's because they have the music blasting in my ear. I wish I had the option to turn the volume down so I wouldn't get a headache.

Star Tours for sure will get your head spinning a bit if motion sickness is an issue. Space Mountain is more of a stomach thing, but a fun stomach thing!

However, Star Tours is NOT as bad as that Mission to Mars?? ride at Epcot Center - that ride was the most horrible ride I've ever been on! I've never felt so panicky on a ride before, and I like all those crazy rollercoasters. That Mars ride has been in the news one too many times for unfortunate reasons, I think Disney should really consider getting rid of it.

The new Simpsons ride at Universal really got me dizzy, it's another simulation ride.

I wanted to say thank you for all you help and tips :) This is the first trip I can ride rides with my husband since we won't have the kids this time. I am always the "Stay with the youngest child" parent. I don't usually get to ride all the rides. But I have a squemish tummy so I wanted to ask B4 I went. To my husband all the rides are easy and never make him sick :)

I love rides but get really travel sick. My answer is to wear my travel sickness bands that I wear in the car on the rides!! Now the bands don't work for everyone, but I personally swear by them. The only Disney ride that has made me feel a little queezy whilst using them is Mission Space at Epcot, but not enough that it stopped me riding it again on another trip there!

I, too, feel sick after riding Star Tours. But if my dh wants to ride it, I just close my eyes while riding. It does seem to help.

Space Mountain, on the other hand, is not a problem.
