So hopefully I will be pregnant I am trying to remember if Star Tours has those seats that do not have any motion on them or not? Does anyone rememeber?

Ahh so no seats to the side or front or back that do not move? :( Was hoping I cans still watch some of the new stuff.

We went in March for the first time since 1997, and I was surprised at how much it moved. My sister in law was pg last July and rode it and was sick with worry afterwards. I would not ride it pregnant.

If you're unsure if you're pregnant, I wouldn't worry about it as the ride can't hurt a peanut sized baby. If you're further along in your pregnancy by the time you go, then talk to your doctor. I tried out a few rides during my pregnancy, but generally I played it safe as I knew I would be back again.

No, unfortunately not. I wish they had a separate experience like they do for people with claustrophobia on Nemo.

If I was in your situation, I wouldn't risk it. Many, if not all, of the scenes are very jerky. A few scenes jerk to a complete stop and because of where the seat belt hits, I don't think it would be a good idea.

The bigger issue is what happens if there's an e-stop. Even if the ride itself may not have much of a jerking motion, if the ride e-stops, it's sudden and the riders can be thrown hard against the restraints.

Right. Star Tours is one of the ones I would actually be nervous about after 8 weeks or so. Soarin', however, also has a warning, and is super gentle.

They have something for people with claustrophobia on Nemo? Why did I not know this? How?

It's for wheelchairs and people who can't go down the stairs. I wouldn't say it's terribly big. About the width of 2 wheelchairs, smaller than my closet.

You end up just watching the movie of the ride in a room on a big screen.

I would just google "star tours ridethru" or similar and watch the movie of it.

ST is rough. There's no chance in Hades I would ride it while even a millisecond pregnant.

When DS was 2ish I thought for a week that I was expecting, and I went on Indy with the thought process of "that early nothing can hurt it" and fairly soon after...most definitely not expecting. I will never know if I was or not, and it's one of the biggest regrets I have. I don't live my life with tons of "what ifs", and I wasn't a paranoid American pregnant woman... if I ate meat I'd eat deli meat and sushi while expecting, if I could have dealt with the smell of dairy I would have eaten unpasteurized dairy, etc...but riding a rough ride like that, gosh no. I'll never know. And I never have had another real "am I?" moment since; DS is nearly 12 and we've been trying since he was 9 months old.

I will tell you flat out; Star Tours is NOT worth it. And versions of it can be watched on youtube.

At WDW (9 years ago mind you and I haven't been to DL yet so I don't know if the rides are the same) and I was pregnant they did a non-moving version for us and anyone else who wanted to join us. We were at rope drop and were selected to be the first family on the ride that day and we were given a certificate.

What? I said if she doesn't know she is pregnant she could still ride. Since she's actively trying she'll know as soon as possible. At less than 4 weeks the baby is so small that even a car accident won't void the pregnancy. Pregnancy is counted by menstruation cycles, so generally the first two weeks of a pregnancy the person isn't even pregnant. I wasn't saying to go on the ride later in pregnancy, I said talk to your doctor. In your idea you shouldn't even go on Peter Pan because there could be an e-stop. But Disney doesn't put warning signs on rides like Peter Pan. You're more likely to be injured driving to Disneyland than on one of the rides.

.

Technically it is for accessibility issues not claustrophobia. I love the alt-experience for Nemo. Not only do I get to experience the ride but there is never a wait. The last time I did the submarines I nearly had a panic attack. Never realized I was claustrophobic until I had to have an MRI.

Star Tours is a great ride with lots of motion. But, there is not a lot of jerking around like a roller coaster. However, I would not take any unnecessary risks.

I hope you have a great time even without riding Star Tours (sorry, it's one of my favorites and enjoy it even more with the scenes from the new movie).

I guess it's more of an accessibility thing for wheelchairs, people who cannot maneuver stairs, etc. I just remembered the claustrophobia thing because the one time we went on it, a person in our party had claustrophobia and was able to go into the separate room that plays the "movie" of the ride (what you see outside the windows in the submarine) while the rest of us went onto the actual ride into the submarine.

No, I'm saying that if a ride e-stops, the rider is thrown much more violently than during regular ride operation. I recently e-stopped on Snow White (maybe it was Pinocchio, I forget, and I was thrown very hard into the lap bar. I'm not saying don't ride if pregnant, I'm saying just because the motions in Star Tours seem safe enough when riding, if the ride e-stops, we don't know how hard the impact will be, but given what I experienced on a dark ride and RSR I'd say on Star Tours it will be quite an impact during some parts of the ride.
