Do you think Star Tours is too intense for a 4 1/2 year old boy? He loves space and Buzz Lightyear. He watched a video of the ride on youtube and thought it looked fun, but it looks pretty intense to me. Maybe with earplugs? Anyone have any experience on this?

I don't think it's too intense at all for a 4.5 year old, and there's no need for earplugs. It's just good old Star Wars fun!:thumbsup2

My boys starting riding it at age 3 (they are now 8 and 4), and it's their favorite ride. Added up through the years of visiting DL, my 8 year old has been on Star Tours about 100 times.

The only problem that some people have on this ride (or other simulator type rides) is getting motion sickness.

I totally agree with the previous poster. Totally not too intense for a 4 year old and no need for earplugs. My son has been going on it since he was 3 and it's his favorite ride!

Phew! Thanks so much for your replies! He really wants to go and thinks it looks fun, but I was trying to hold him back because I didn't want him to get scared. I am sure he will be excited about going! I have only been on it once and skip in now because it made me really ill and that was eight years ago, so I don't really remember it.

My 3.5 year old LOVED the ride. Literally. Getting off the ride he said "I love that ride, I love that ride, I love that ride". :)

Especially since it's a motion simulator, and DS seemed to understand that (he got spooked by Matterhorn in September and didn't want a rollercoaster), it worked for him.

I've heard that the ride is more intense the further back you sit, but we were in the front row all the way to the side, so that might have helped with his enjoyment of it.

My older son was between 4 and 1/2 and 5 when we rode it the first time, and it wasn't too intense for him at all. What was cute though was that he finally saw Star Wars before our next Disneyland trip (when he was almost 6) and he really enjoyed to ride much more when he got the context of its story.

I don't think it's intense at all - my DD was just 4 when we went & she was scared of everything - Star Tours didn't phase her at all. I think my 3 yo will be fine on this when we go as well. No ear plugs needed.

ok first off 3 and 4 year olds wow you'll kids a tall, mine wasnt alowed on at 3 in half becouse he was to small so he got a special badge saying when hes tall enough he can ride it.
well we went on it this time, first off no one knew any thing about the speical badge, they barely acnolaged it and this was early in morrning. all well when we got on it RT loved it. now hes 5 and says that and space mountion are his fav rides

They said they didn't know about the badge thing? Was it like a card with Stitch on it?

We asked about it (DS got one in Sept when he was something like a millimeter too short for the picky CM) on this trip, and they said it's a "get in NOW" pass for up to 6 people. There was a HUGE line, DH asked the CM about it, and the CM said we could just cut right in if we wanted to use the pass. DS was refusing to ride, so we didn't, but that's what we were told in early Dec the pass was for!

no it didnt have stitch on it it had the start tours ride pic on it, and it didnt sya anything about 6 ppl getting in, it was like a honery member badge and they were supose to treat him special. is what the guy said in wdw when he gave it to him, its ok and i didnt make a big deal out of it but found it starnge this guy didnt have any idea what i was talking about

Our card didn't say anything about it either (we were surprised!).

I do want to add to my initial response. After the one time DS rode ST, he refused to get on it again, complaining that it was too bumpy.:confused3
