Star & Stripes pass questions

Have a few questions regarding the Stars & Stripes passes from Shades of Green:

1 - I have seen varying info on how the water/minor parks pass works. Can we use one day's pass to go to both the water park and one of the major parks? Some accounts I read mentioned you cannot go to major park on the same day as water park. This is not how I understood them to work, so looking for clarification.

2 - currently have a onsite resort reservations, if we decide to change to offsite, will this impact our ability to use the tickets? I know you can only purchase if you have reservations on Walt Disney property. We are looking at Wyndham Bonnet Creek resort (timeshare side). I think these are within Walt Disney property, but not positive. Has anyone had experience with this?

3 - will SoG email ticket info, especially given new park reservation system? I am still holding onto my SoG reservation, but will likely be canceling because while hopeful we are not 100% committed, and want greater flexibility to cancel than 30 days. Not sure how this works if they email tickets, but hold at desk for resort guests.

1. Water park entry and theme park entry are not related or affected by each other.
2. That's news to me.
EDIT: On research HERE I see special "Length of Stay" tickets.
Note that there are Military discounted tickets available in other than "Length of Stay" type.
3. Yes. If you ask.

1. Yes you can hit a water park on the same day as one of the Big 4

2. Huh?! Where you stay has zero impact on ticket use other than the few times a year that a park reaches capacity and off site guests are locked out of that one park( think MK on Christmas Day rare). ANYONE who is eligible can get tickets from SoG. Regardless of where you are staying.

3. they mail the physical tickets Already activated. You can call and get the information so that you can link to MDE and make your reservations if necessary. The ones from ITT/ MWR tend to only be vouchers.

From the 2019 Price list: "The Stars & Stripes -Length of Stay Ticket is for guests registered at Shades of Green® or at a hotel on the Walt Disney World® Resort property."

The updated 2021 price list: "Number of days must match length of stay. Ticket must be used on consecutive days. Unused days expire one day after first use. Must be staying on Walt Disney World property. "

I am hoping that once we have the tickets it won't matter. When I order for our previously cancelled trip we had to provide reservation information. I already have tickets for everyone, except the youngest who now is of ticket requiring age. When I order last year, they would not email the tickets or provide info unless staying at SoG.

It sounds like to me that the use of the tickets is linked to a length of stay onsite. I would keep the on-site reservation, it’s the right thing to do.

That's what I am trying to figure out. I also don't know if the WBC qualifies as on Disney property since I think it's one of the partner hotels.
I have the existing tickets from our trip that was cancelled from last spring, and now just considering options that provide best value and flexibility. Don't mind changing tickets to regular MYW if able or required.

With regards to your third question, SOG would only mail our tickets. We also had to be home to sign for them. Hey would not give us the numbers prior so I would suggest requesting them ASAP so you can make park reservations.

I would definitely call them as they have always been helpful for my questions.

How long did it take to get your tickets once the order was processed? I think it was about a week+ when we went a few years ago. Remember hoping they'd be in time for FP window. This feels even more stressful. Can't leave youngest at resort while we all go....

I submitted form late last week, so waiting to hear back. Know their queues are long so trying to be patient. Will probably call tomorrow to ask questions, ensure form is good and check status. Just keep watching the park reservation site.

I found this info on Miliary Disney Tips:
Shades of Green Stars and Stripes Passes
These tickets are sold only by Shades of Green only to those staying on Walt Disney World property.
These tickets are available to anyone staying anywhere on Walt Disney World property, you do not have to stay at Shades of Green.
These special tickets are a length of stay pass which include theme park admission for the number of days on the ticket, the ability to park hop, and a limited Plus option (they do not include Mini Golf).
Stars and Stripes Tickets are available in 2-day through 10-day increments. They expire one day after the number of days purchased, so a 5-day ticket would expire 6 days after first use. The number of days on your ticket must match your length of stay.
Stars and Stripes Tickets offer admission for the specified number of days to the Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, as well as an equivalent number of entries into Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Wide World of Sports Complex.

It doesn't clarify if you can stay at an off-site partner resort, though my guess is no or it would be stated. I suggest you call Shades of Green with your questions, since they are the only outlet for this ticket.

I think they were mailed 2 day priority, however I do live in Florida, so they didn’t take too long.

Ended up booking a great deal on YC via PLE, so that negates #2. For reference though, I did reach to via Disney chat and the CM told me that staying on site is not a requirement for the ticket. So take that as you wish; I know some information varies on CM level of knowledge.

Still waiting to hear back from SoG on adding my youngest's ticket. Going on 7 days, will call this evening if I haven't heard. I know their auto reply indicated high volumes and to wait 7-10 days before reaching back out. Just monitoring park reservation availability daily. Since we are going after Easter, still all green. Each day we get closer without tickets makes me a little nervous, though.

Thanks for all of the feedback and info!

I'm glad you have your resort decided. Since the Stars&Stripes ticket is not sold by WDW I would take any info from a Disney chat CM with a grain of salt; a more accurate response would be from SoG directly. There are 2 other types of military discount tickets and a Disney CM may not even be aware of the one not sold by WDW.

Agreed. That's why I was excited to get a great deal on YC!

Glad you booked YC. That Disney CM was incorrect about the Stars & Stripes tickets. They do require an onsite stay, and WBC does not qualify. She was likely thinking about the salute tickets, which are more popular (because they are so much cheaper). No restrictions for location of your stay with those.

I have heard about the long waits for contact from SoG. I am glad I ordered our salute tickets from them for June back in late December, when the new eligibility window opened. I'm also glad I ordered the 6-day tickets, because they are not available now.

SoG will no longer email you the ticket numbers as a general rule. They send tickets FedEx, and the package must be signed for. If you will not be home, you can redirect it to a pickup location, like a Walgreens. Unfortunately, right now even FedEx is inconsistent. There are some horror stories on another thread about military tickets, where people have been waiting for ages. My shipment was delayed, but only one extra day. It was just a pain since I had to be home to sign for it

Good luck!

I had been watching for S&S passes to show back up on their price list since it will be a longer stay. They finally did a few weeks back, so hoping they come through before parks fill up. So far all green as is the week before.

Finally able to get tickets ordered. Ended up calling after waiting 8 days since ailing order and waited on hold for over an hour. The representative was kind enough to email me ticket info since I explained I was traveling soon and reservations were starting to fill up in the week leading up to our dates. Not to say they will do this as a common practice, but asking nicely worked out for me. I have ticket linked to my account and reservations for all of us now. FYI- when I replied to email with a "thank you," the automatic response said to expect 10-15 days for response (was 7-10 days last week).

I did forget to ask for confirmation on the water park usage and clarifying question on consecutive days, but reports of ability to skip one day. I was originally planning to upgrade all of our passes from 9 to 10 days since I ended up extending this trip one day longer. However the difference in price was almost $100/ticket, not the $17 based on current price list because we bought the tickets last year. So decided to stick with 9 day tickets for 10 night trip.

Can anyone confirm that you can skip one day in the middle of stay with S&S passes?

Is that because you don't have to purchase arrival or departure days? Because the terms of the Stars and Stripes tickets are that they are for the length of stay. It also says that they must be used on consecutive days. 562666

I agree with the above, don't think you can skip a day. I was considering Stars and Stripes for the future and the wording on the most updated pricing page seems to say you can't skip a day.

Unrelated, but since MYW tickets are mentioned in this thread also I thought I'd share.
The terms with military tickets have changed in general, including MYW tickets. They used to be the same price for 365 days a year, now they've split out 1-day tickets to cost more during Christmas ($140 vs $119). MYW tickets also now expire in 2022 where it used to be 2030.

Edited: 2x, once to clarify 1-day tickets and the other because I typed the wrong price for $119 :)

Note that the higher holiday pricing only applies to 1-day tickets. Any other length ticket is the same price all year.
