I stayed at Star island 2 years ago for a week with a friend who owns a Wyndham timeshare.
We stayed in a 2-bedroom lockoff. Since we were sharing the 2-bedroom it was no problem, but if you rent a 1-bedroom at Star Island make sure it is a 1-bedroom deluxe.
There is one side of the 2-bedroom lockoff that has a mini kitchen. There is no washer & dryer. no balcony and only a mini fridge. It has a micro and a small cooktop. No oven.
The deluxe side is great. Full kitchen, large fridge, micro, oven and plenty of cooking utensils. The living was a nice size with a couch that opens to a bed.
The balcony was a nice size. It had a table with 2 chairs.
There are 2 pools, hot tub. The grounds are nice. They have enough activities for kids. The game room was a nice size.
The only thing is if you are there without a car it is hard to get to the parks. Cabs are expensive. They don't offer low cost shuttles to the parks.
The sales pitch is tough so I wouldn't go. I ended up spending over 3 hours and they pushed so hard that I purchased a discover package that they offered which is only good for one year. it is cheaper renting from an owner.
This year I am renting from an owner and going to Bonnet Creek. even though there is a $5.00 shuttle charge per person for a round trip, it is still cheaper than cabs. No one in my family drives so we can't rent a car.
Star Island is very nice, but i don't think I would go back as long as there are places like Bonnet Creek. It all depends on what you are looking for.
If you are spending most of your time at the parks and using the resort for down time, Star Island is great. If you are looking to entertain kids without to many park days then Bonnet Creek would be better.
