The 80's called and they want their cheap decor back! AWFUL. It IS as bad as the pictures. I'm of the frame of mind that when I go on vacation I want the resort I'm staying in to be nicer than where I live. We really dislike this place. Location is not close to disney either. Thumbs down for Star Island.

Stayed here twice, most recently last October. Also have a review on TripAdvisor, gave it a generous 3 star as it was neutral/average for what I expected/paid. Expectations are key as we knew it was further away, knew it was a timeshare, so not a full-service hotel with daily maid, etc.

Your 80s decor comment was right, I always consider it cheap "Florida" style. We have been in two of the nicer units (spa tubs, granite counters, plenty of room) but I find the rest of the place lacking (my other travel companions find it acceptable considering we are in the parks all day, YMMV). It is just run down, poorly cleaned and maintained IMO and the furnishings are all low-end 2-star Comfort Inn style. (That said, Fairfield Inn in the Marriott Village, is considered a 2-star place and it's one of the nicest FI in the US. Of course they know it, and price it accordingly.)

The only reason we've stayed here is via a good vacation club deal (no sales pitch), and we've had the 3-bedroom unit for $60-$85/night. And for that much room, extra bath, TVs, laundry, internet, etc., we can deal with the place at that price. But never at their rack rates. FWIW.
