Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy

I love this show! He is just fabulous! I will say that there is at least one thing each episode that I would never eat. Last night’s was the raw beef. Blech! All of that bread looked fabulous, though. And that sauce that he and his mother made at the beginning looked really good.

I found out something new about him - he is married to Emily Blunt’s sister.

My daughter said the same about the beef ! Especially when he said "best sushi I've ever had!" Lol
The steak looked amazing !! Three people could have shared that !! I didn't know that about his wife ! I believe he said he lives in London too

We've really been enjoying the series too. We were thrilled to see him sit down with Katie Parla at a restaurant in Rome that specializes in offal. We hired Katie for a day of touring in Rome back in 2015. She's an author and critic specializing in Italian cuisine. Brilliant woman....Yale educated and just took us all over Rome to taste and drink at some of her favorite markets and restaurants for the whole day. I don't remember eating any offal that day, but we did have a wonderful time with her.

I'm jealous ! That must have been amazing ! Now I'm thinking about the Episode with Fellini - believe it was the bologna episode

We had such a good laugh....... the offal dishes really sounded awful!:rotfl2:

I just checked her site....she's still doing tours. It wasn't set up as such structured tours when we hired her. We hired her for the day (by the hour)... and it was a combination of eating, wine tasting and historical sites. She's lived in Italy since 2003. We've been to Italy many times and lots of other countries in Europe as well and toured with lots of guides and Katie was incredible.

We are loving it! Went to Italy in Oct. 2019 for my 50th birthday, and we keep saying we can almost smell/taste all the food on the show. It's making me want to go back and explore even more of Italy!

I keep telling my DH that I want him to watch it. He will love the food and I'm hoping that it will encourage him to travel to Italy with me. I've been there, but he hasn't and all I can tell him about is the amazing sites and food.

Absolutely LOVE this show! DH and I watch with glasses of Italian wine, lol. Then I have a marathon phone discussion with my parents the next day about the episode! DH and I have made 2 trips to Italy and love seeing some of the sights on the show which bring back all the wonderful memories. My dad is Italian (on both sides, like Stanley says) but has never been. It’s a dream for him that may finally come true if this pandemic ever ends. In the meantime, we are watching Stanley and loving it! He is so entertaining. I heard the show already got picked up for a second season which is great.
Yep - they did pick it up for season 2- the ratings have been great - tho probably delayed as covid cases.spiking again in Italy

Thank you for this recommendation! I watched the first episode last night and really enjoyed it. I have the rest of the episodes standing by.

I was on a Med cruise and one port was Naples. We did a private tour that day and went to Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano. My favorite was Sorrento, mostly because of the lemons. They were everywhere! It’s where I first tasted limoncello and I love it to this day!

LOVE limoncello !!! And Im not a drinker... but its soooo good !!!

We loved Sorrento. Stayed there a few nights. You can smell the lemons in the air. Such a quaint town to walk around.

It's a CNN miniseries. If you have On Demand, you can find it there under the CNN channel. They show reruns often on CNN later at night.

The Sunday night episode is repeated at midnight--- last week's episode is shown at 8PM, before the new one, which is at 9PM

My son mentioned this show on Sunday. Yesterday watched the first episode. I really enjoyed it. Can't wait and looking forward to watching the second episode on Demand.
