I'll back in WDW the last week of August (can't wait!!!!). We will not be doing A+E (youngest is almost 17-y-o). Is there any news/updates about SB+ ? I'm worried about it "spreading".

I haven't heard about them doing it anymore since the giant fail at Sorian. It did pretty well for Anna and Elsa I heard though. Anyway we will know once we get closer to those dates.

I heard that they were going to test it on Toy Story Midway Mania. Maybe they've decided to drop the idea. (One can hope!)

I don't understand this one at all. Why the fail? Seems to make sense to me. If the line gets long at all everybody gets a fp time to return. Sounds good to me!

Imagine you go to the theme park at say 3pm, excited to spend the next 6+ hours at Epcot. There are 2 major attractions here, Soarin and Test Track. You are willing to wait standby. You get into the park which closes at 9, and walk over to Soarin where you are told "Sorry we gave out a card that says what time you can get in line, but they ran out an hour ago".

So that is what happened to people,and apparently it was not pretty. People are willing to wait whether it is 10 min or 100, so leave it be.

The difference with this an Anna and Elsa, is that people are running in droves to do see them....and the lines are affecting other things in the park. Wheras at Soarin, it just affects those waiting in line at Soarin.
(and in my opinion, many know that it's so hard to go and see the ladies, which makes people determined to see them, and i am willing to bet in some cases some people who would otherwise not care to see them are trying to because its the thing to do)

Ok, this makes some sense, but there should be a simple solution: You can get in a line up to park closing, no matter how long, and then wait until you ride even after closing. Isn't this correct? So just hand out cards until closing.

A second possibility is stop handing them out at a certain time and tell people to come get in line an hour before closing.

The only thing is NOBODY really likes to stand in line. If this is a solution, it sounds like a huge plus for a small negative. And if you go to Disney to ride your special ride, do it first, folks. I wonder if this is a "huge fail" like FP+ was a "huge fail." Most people were fine, but some people get really upset because they don't understand. The unhappy ones get the attention.

Of course we don't know for sure, but Disney does. I sure hope this goes forward. It would be so easy with a magic band. And as I get older I HATE standing in a line more tha 15 or 20 minutes.

Now, don't get me wrong... I LOVE Disney World, and I'm sure I would have a blast no matter what the queue system is. Our trip this month will be the first one using FP+, and I'm excited about it. I'm worried about wandering over to what is usually a reasonably short line (Haunted Mansion, It's A Small World, Pirates, Jungle Cruise... you know what I mean) and having to get SB+ tickets for them. That would mean the only "stroll by and get in line" rides would be like The Tiki Room, and Carousel of Progress, and Journey into the Imagination. Much as I love them... and I do!... I would hate to think that these are the only rides I could go to on an impromptu basis. And I can't bear to think of the prospect of only being able to get onto Haunted Mansion once a day.

I will be happy either way... but I'm kind of hoping this idea disappears.

Shouldn't, theoretically, the tickets be handed out for a time around what the wait would be if all those people were waiting in line? For example, if the pass is for 3 hours later, wouldn't that mean that if they weren't handing out passes, the line would be 3 hours long? Sure, some people who receive passes won't come back, but I'm sure Disney could come up with some calculation to adjust for that.

My understanding was that if they aren't handing out passes anymore, it's because there's no more capacity left, so whether they are handing out passes or not, if you tried to enter the line at that point you wouldn't be able to ride.

If they are artificially preventing people from getting in the line, then I can understand that, but I don't really see how that's possible. If they aren't handing out passes then without the passes the line would be longer than the time to closing and they wouldn't let you in the line anyway!
