We are going to AKL in late August. Booked the standard view room with AP discount. I am seeking suggestions on which rooms/wings are best in this view. Would like to be away from anything noisy such as restaurants, pool, elevator, etc. But also not too far from all these amenities. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

For a standard view room, we thought our location on the 3rd floor, Ostrich Trail, couldn't be beat. We were steps off the lobby (but absolutely no noise), and it made getting to the restaurants, buses, parking lot, etc., very quick. No elevator to get to the lobby! We were in #3125, which was a king room. I wouldn't hesitate to request that same area again if we were to go back (which we will sometime!). It was also not the standard view rooms near the bus stop (Giraffe Trail, I think?), which I've heard can be a bit noisy.

Thanks!

Should I request the specific location now or at check-in?

Something else to consider about standard view: the front of the hotel where guests enter and leave is very noisy and I noticed there were some room balconies/patios adjacent to this area. There is also a 30-minute parking lot right next to the hotel in this area. With 30-minute parking you can be sure there are cars constantly in and out of that lot.

I'm sorry that I don't have specific room numbers for you, but this area is to the left of the hotel's main entrance as you face it. I just felt like mentioning this to you because I made a mental note to avoid that part of the hotel if I ever get a chance to stay there again.

Hope you have a wonderful time! We really enjoyed our stay at AKL!

Can you get bunk beds in the standard rooms or only the deluxe rooms? How many are there and where are they located? What is the best way to get them?

When we've booked standard rooms at AKL, the CM always asked if we made any requests. When I've said no, they said then they'd just bump us up. It may pay to take your chances, if it isn't busy.
