For those who have stayed in a Standard View room at AKL were you disappointed? We have stayed in a Savannah view already and have decided to try and save a little money this next trip. We figure we aren't in the room all that much anyway. We really loved Boma's and the whole atmosphere of the lodge. I would love to hear of your experiences in a Standard View room. Where was it located, etc? We may switch our Poly ressie to save money.

Thanks a bunch!:D

While we certainly enjoyed our Savannah view room, I would consider a standard view to save $$ in the future, if I had to. There are so many public viewing opportunities that I think you'd still see plenty of animals. Plus, I have read many stories of people being "upgraded" to Savannah view during less-busy times. I'd say it's worth a shot.

:) Have a great trip!

When are you going? We went Labor day weekend and were upgraded. I sent them a nice fax five days ahead mentioning my b-day and that we would like a roon near the pool/food court... I never "asked " for the upgrade. HOWEVER, I was expecting the standard room I paid for. I think if you go with that attitude, you will be fine. We had a pool view and really enjoyed it. I love that place so much I would sleep in the hall!!! The rates now are really hard to pass up! My mom booked a standard room for Jan- wish I was going!

I had a standard room last year when I stayed at AKL right after it opened. My view was of the valet parking lot. I could see the highway nearby (192?) and even read some of the signs along the highway. So my view was not much, and there was a hornet's nest on the balcony! So I did not spend any time out there. But, like previous posters here said, I would walk to choice spots around the Lodge to see animals. I was also on a budget, and a standard room was absolutely fine for my needs. :)

I would love a Savannah room, if I had that kind of money!
