We are planning to stay two nights pre DCL cruise next May. I would love to hear any comments about the standard view at Kidani Village at AKV. Are they a better view or location than at Jambo House? TIA!

In my experience the views are just that, Standard at Kidani. I have heard you can sometimes get a partial savanah view at Jambo when using the standard category but do not know. We have never stayed at Jambo as we prefer the extra bathroom that the 1/2 bedroom provides and the covered parking can't be beat to keep the car cooler.

The standard views on the south wing of Kidani overlook road of the back wall of the bus station, although beyond the road is mostly land and trees. The north wing has many that basically look at the pool area but mainly see a hill leading to the pool area, although a few overlook the bottom of Pembe savanna. Then there are the standards on that north wing that are actually over the Pembe savanna and thus have savanna view. If you want to try for one of those, a good request would be for a room "near the Pumbaa elevator," which is the last elevator on the north wing and all standards anywhere near that elevator have Pembe Savanna view. Be aware, however, that getting that request will mean you will have very long walks to the lobby and bus station.

At Jambo, your chance of getting savanna view are higher. More than half the standards actually have savanna view, although the view might not be quite as good as savanna view. The rest have pool view. A possible request to make if you want a standard with a savanna view is for a room on the Kudo Trail side of the building. All standards on that side of the building have savanna view.

I assume we have always had the south wing then as we are always sort of overlooking the valet area or trees blocking the pool. We request to be near the pool and while we don't ever seem to get a pool view we generally can get to the pool quickly with the rooms we have been assigned.

Thanks for the tip of being able to score a savanna view though if requesting Pumbaa elevator and still being able to save points with a Standard category. We will have to try that next time.

The room you mention having is at the beginning part of the north wing (front entrance faces west) that is still in line with the front entrance area. See map at post #4 here https://www.disboards.com/threads/k...arked.3558443/#lg=_xfUid-1-1629905447&slide=0. The front entrance faces west and thus the north wing is the one on your left side of the map as you are looking at it. Your description indicates you were in the first building pod from the lobby which is further away from the pool than pods 2 to 4. However, even those pods don't have any great view of the pool because between the building and the pool area is an incline with trees that blocks the view for most.

On the map, you will see the Pumbaa elevator marked and it is between the sixth and seventh building pods from the lobby. The rooms on the Pembe savanna side of those two pods are all standard view rooms (including the only two standard view GVs) and they all overlook the Pembe savanna.

Wow great information!! Our last stay at Kidani was right before everything shutdown in 2020 and I do remember taking the Rafiki elevator to the pool as you previously pointed out that was the quickest way to get there. Not my home resort but I do love it for the theming and the point charts!! Thanks again for the updated information.

BWV Dreamin i assume you are not needing to laundry before your cruise but if you do hopefully it is a 1 bed. If you are booking a studio I believe the laundry is near Community Hall. Please correct me if I am wrong drusba.

Thank you! This helps tremendously. I will ask for that request “ near Pumbaa elevator”. Since we are staying only two nights pre-cruise, we can manage the very long walk to the bus station.
