Standard view at Disneyland Hotel

What is the standard view at the Disneyland Hotel? Is it the parking lot? TIA!

Pretty much yes...

Although we had a standard view that over looked one of the parking garages, but if we looked way over to the right we could see the Matterhorn and fireworks

A standard view can be many things at the DLH! I have had lower level rooms overlooking Downtown Disney (the upper levels are premium), I have had a room that was high up and overlooked the Koi Pond, waterfalls and one of the other towers, and I have had a standard view that overlooked the pool (again from a lower level). I have only had one standard view that overlooked the parking lot. I really think that in three towers, with six possible sides, there is only one side, from one tower that has a pretty crummy view. That is in the Wonder Tower (used to be called the Bonita), but only on the back side, the front side has very nice views in that tower. The parking lot view in the Magic Tower (used to be Marina) does have a view of the parking lot but also the Mickey Statue and you can see the park/fireworks from that area as well.

I enjoy having the pool view but wouldn't pay too dearly for it. Since again, your odds of looking at something beyond strictly parking lot are in your favor!

When you check in (if you go standard) ask where they are putting you. If its on the backside of the Wonder, ask if you can be moved to a different standard view on the other side or in one of the other towers. They will give you another room if you ask and they have one available.

We had a standard view of the front of the hotel, with parking lot, this month. But guess what? GREAT PERFECT view of fireworks!! It was like a personal show just for us. LOL I was happy with paying the standard rate and getting to see the fireworks like that. We put the fireworks music station on, and it was just awesome.

We've also had a free upgrade to a pool view a few years ago. That's a really nice view as well. But I don't mind the standard views.

I just returned home from 3 nights at the Grand Californian. We booked the standard view with our DVC points and had a great view. Our room was on the 4th floor right above the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney. We had a great view of the monorail, Matterhorn, Space Mountain, entrance to the park, and best of all, the fireworks. We could actually lie on the bed and watch them with a perfect view!

While this room had a GREAT view, it was a bit of a walk from the hotel entrance/exit into Downtown Disney. The walk was considerably shorter to the CA entrance, but still a bit of a haul.
