We have ressies for a standard one bdrm at BWV in September. I made these reservations months ago with no requests other than a higher floor and non smoking. I know there are some better standards than others, fireworks view etc, but don't which rooms they are and if the resort will even honor these requests. I was also thinking of calling MS this morning to change to a BW view, if available, since I see you can now request that and actually get it. The only reason we opted for standard was that we never got a decent view, and certainly never the boardwalk view, so we figured we would save points with the standard and accept the fact that we wouldn't see anything nice. Maybe with a a request for a better standard we could at least not overlook a parking lot.

I think the more demands you make for "which" room, the less likely you are to get them met. What if you request a specific room or group of rooms, and there is no one vacating those rooms on the day you arrive? There would be no way for them to accomodate your wishes. I would go with the fewer points in the standard view if that is what you have this time. There will always be other trips to go with a preferred view, and since so few are actually Boardwalk views anyway, you might have the same problem getting that as a specific standard view.

We love the standard views facing the bus stop. You can see the fireworks from Illuminations and even hear the music. We don't even notice the parking lot. We were in 4103 last Dec, 1 bedroom.

Since they are reassigning the current reservations to the boardwalk view if requested by the date of reservation, your chances are very slim of getting a guaranteed boardwalk view for September.

Remember, you are still at Boardwalk and a "bad view" here is better than a lot of places "good view".

Here is a link with some room reports and it will give you some view comments.

As others have said, asking for a specific room and getting it is slim. This will give you an idea of “sectional views”.

We are staying at BW for Thanksgiving with 2 two bedoom standard units. Do you think we will really have a parking lot or dumpster view? We have never styaed standard view before.

I don't think you can get a dumpster view in a Standard View room at the BWV. The SV rooms are those that face the resort entrance and driveway on down to the end of the building that overlooks the valet parking lot (which itself is some distance away so hardly objectionable) and the tennis courts. Even if you have one of the "parking lot" view rooms, the overall quality of the view is not really too bad. Nice landscaping, tennis courts, the entry way, etc.

There may also be a few SV rooms that overlook the small courtyard near the separate building that houses offices. These rooms are in the same part of the building as the Crest o' the Wave portion of the boardwalk. We were in one of these rooms (booked as SV) in June, but it may normally be treated as a PV, since we were there at the time many SV rooms were closed due to the on-going renovation work.

We had a standard view room that overlooked the entrance and it was quite nice AND quiet!

We just returned from our first trip home. We were at BWV August 3-8 in a 2 BR. Rooms 5069(1BR) and 5071(studio). The first villa on the left, 10 steps from the elevators! Everytime I took those 10 steps I thought of Richyams.:p Our view was of the BW entrance. I would be thrilled with that villa every visit. We originally reserved a preferred view but waitlisted for a standard view. I was happy to save 40 points when the SV 2BR came through. Our only request was non-smoking.

I have had company and therefore couldn't post but I was able to get a guaranteed BW view for almost my whole stay( I am waitlisted for the first day). I also requested a high floor to help to minimize the noise. I am so excited since we own at BWV and have never gotten a Boardwalk view. It is only 6 points difference a day and I think we will enjoy the experience.

Have any of you gone to Jellyrolls or Atlantic Dance? We are grandparents and older than most DVC'rs. DH hates loud music though so he is often a problem when I want to go out anywhere where there are electic guitars.

We have been pretty lucky with our room assignments. We've had PV overlooking the pool with a view of the canal,ToT, and the Swan and the Dolphin and standard view, where my daughter could feed the ducks from the balcony and a view of Illuminations, and a few steps from the quiet pool. I usually only request non- smoking. I hope the next trip is similar.

icy-dog, haven't been to Atlantic dance but Jellyrolls is TERRIFIC. We went three times on the last trip! It is a liittle loud(it's a sing-along) but it really is alot of fun. Sit in the back maybe it won't seem so loud. Have Fun!!:Pinkbounc
