Standard view AKL

Can you get a glimpse of any animals in a standard room or is it just the parking lot?

Just parking lot and rooftops from all that I've read. You definitely won't see any animals from your room. There are many viewing areas around the resort though, so if Sav. view isn't in your budget, don't despair!!

You will not be able to see animals from a standard view room. But , there are SO many beautiful places around the AKL to view the animals. If $$ is an issue, book standard and be happy with that view, but hope for an upgrade. The AKL seems to be the place a lot of people get upgrades. We booked standard and were put in a deluxe savannah view without asking....The resort is so wonderful that I would go back in a minute even with a standard view!!

I agree, if std. view is as much as your budget allows, go for it!! This is such a beautiful resort, and there are so many public viewing areas that you'll want to visit anyway, it would be a shame to miss AKL just 'cause you can't get sav. view!! We had sav. view last year, and are going back this April with pool view, and expect to have a great time!!

Thanks, we had Savannah view last year and it was great. To tell you the truth, at 290 for a standard room, that is also out of my price range, but we are splurging for a night. I missed the codes and all I could get was a AAA discount. I am praying for an upgrade, but we will be happy just being there. My husband likes to see the animals better from the public viewing areas anyway!

I am soooo glad to hear that people have had good experiences in standard view rooms. We are doing pool view, but so many people have posted that they would only stay at AKL with a savannah view that I was a little worried. We stretched the budget enough to do pool view! This trip was pretty last minute and we had not budgeted for a spring break trip at all, but I'm a teacher and my classes are so trying this semester that I've come home before 3 days out of 5 crying. DH thought I needed to go see Mickey and the princesses! (Plus I made sure he realized that the Atlanta Braves have spring training at WDW!)

i had booked a standard room last may and was lucky to be upgraded to a pool view when i checked in i loved this view and loved the resort, even though i couldn't see any animals from my balcony. i really enjoyed getting my coffee each AM and taking it out to one of the many viewing areas. one nice thing about doing this is you get to chat with the cm's that are usually there. they always have some neat info to share about the animals and their natural homeland. although the pool view was great, i still would have enjoyed my stay in a standard, and if AP rates come out soon for my spring trip i hope to change a few days to AKL to do just that
