How are the standard views at the Contemporary?

We're thinking of trying a wing room at the Contemporary, and are wondering if it is worth paying for a Garden/Water View or if Standard could be okay.

I'm thinking of requesting the North Wing due to its proximity to the MK and the playground. But, I've noticed quite a lot of the North Wing rooms are right off the parking lot (not my preference) and was wondering if there is a standard room location I could request that looks out on Greenery, playgrounds, or whatever (just not the parking lot).

Thanks!!!

We just got back from the CR and had a standard view booked but I believe were upgraded to water view unexpectedly - we were on the bay side of the hotel in the North Wing. I think some standard views - although you can see the parking lot - you also get a view of the MK and the monorail. One thing we would request is to be close to the main building and the Food and Fun Center - it was great to be such a short walk away.

Perhaps ask for "best view possible" - that usually has worked for me. :goodvibes

Do the standard room in the CR have room for 5?

When I called CR they only offered us some higher level room for more money. Maybe I should have asked about a standard room?

I wouldn't spend too much time on this issue, because standards rooms are extremely hard to come by and even harder at a discount rate. I booked my CR standard rooms for September 2005, back in July 2004--tried for the past 6 months to add another room and nothing in my price range (CM discount). Also keep in mind that one section of the wings will be going down for refurbishing soon (May-Oct). Your best bet is to call and see if there is anything available, that will probably help make your decision. I always choose a standard room because there is no balconey, so no sense in worrying about the view. We just look out to see if it's raining or not.

I think all the rooms at the CR sleep at least 5 people - there is a day bed. Why not ask about the wing rooms? The rooms in the tower are more expensive but essentially the same room on the inside. They have a better view overall and a balcony. There are no balconies in the Wing rooms but the 1st floor rooms have a patio. The Wing rooms come in a standard (parking lot) view and a water view.

We had a nice view of the main center courtyard towards the pool and the bay and could see the electrical water pagent at night (with the water-view room in the wings). That was a room I booked when the Spring AP discounts came out a few months back.

Thanks, n2mm :) I won't waste any time if the standard rooms don't sleep 5. Do they?

The standard rooms usually sleep 5 (unless it is a King standard room)
