Standard rooms at BLT in same area?

I'm looking into a 2 bdrm and 1 bdrm to rent in BLT. It's less points than a grand villa in total. On the touringplans.com map they show that category of room on the ground floor in the same side and what looks like close together which is what we'd like. Anyone have any input on that?

Standard is usually the lower five or six floors. But you wouldn't necessarily be on the same floor or wing with two separate reservations.

Agree with Deb&Bill's comment. Also, I would ask the person you are renting from to ask DVC MS to note on each of the reservation "traveling with" and the confirmation of the other reservation. This will help to keep your rooms together (hopefully). However, no request is ever guaranteed by DVC.

I have found that very few standard rooms turn over each night- most of the time when we are checking into a studio they only have 2 that opened up from the night before(from what people checking us in have said). You are at the mercy of where people are located that are leaving the day you are arriving. If being close to each other is your number 1 concern I would suggest getting lakeview rooms and haveing travel with put on those reservations- the rooms are higher but there are a lot more of them and they are more likely to have them vacate in the same area on the same day than you will have in standard view.

Also when you can book might be an issue. The standard view rooms go very quickly as they are lower in points. If you can't book before the 7mos. window you might be out of luck. Might be best to plan on spending the points for lake view rooms and hope for standard view.

Thank you for the replies. It helps a great deal. We're trying to do a family trip 10/3-10/9. There are 12 of us.

Thank you very much for the insight. There are 12 family members hoping to travel 10/3-10/9/15. Can you suggest any other resorts/room types that I might have luck with getting close together because they're less likely to be full? I was stretching the budget as it was to go for BLT. Another question and hopefully it won't sound dumb, with villas that are unavailable now is it possible for them to become available later or am I just a week too late?

Saratoga Springs has a lot more rooms and more likelihood of getting you in the same area although even in the same building at SSR you may be further away than the furthest apart rooms at BLT. AKV Kidani is also a large resort and with either if your primary request is to be close together there is a high liklihood of your being able to do so. Those 2 resorts are more likely to have room and be available at 7 months. OKW is a larger resort also and you could likely end up nearby even if not in the same building- you might even have the points for a GV and be able to sleep everyone in the same area there as opposed to at BLT.

It is always possible that rooms that are not available now will come available but it is highly unlikely that if neither room is available that they will both come available at the same time.

At this point (a week after the seven month window for your dates opened) the only resorts with full avail for your listed dates are AKL (Jambo house standard view), OKW, and SSR-AKL and OKW are similar point costs and SSR is a little more. Not sure which would provide your best chance of being close together maybe someone else can answer-I'd guess AKL jambo house as it is all one large hotel building as opposed to several separate building areas like OKW and SSR but that's just speculation on my part. You may want to check touring plans to see where the standard view rooms are at AKL to get an idea of the max distance they might be apart. As for villas opening up that are currently unavailable anything is possible as people do have to cancel/reschedule vacations and avail changes all the time. However, you are looking to go at an extremely popular DVC time (F&W and MNSSHP) AND you are looking for 2 villas for 6 consecutive nights to open up at the same time. I suspect the chances of that are extremely low (and if you are not an owner stalking the DVC website it is much harder to luck into cancellations like that). Obviously I'm not trying to tell you what to do but if you really want to rent points for those dates I would suggest doing it soon (the availability I see tonight may not be there even by tomorrow). Otherwise if you aren't set on those dates maybe try to push your dates back and rent during the 7-11 month home resort window when more choices are avail?

Again, thank you. Valuable information.

For almost the same points, as of this morning, a GV at SSR is available. sleeps 12 for the entire week.
