Standard room at Contemporary vs. studio at BLT?

We are currently booked in a Theme Park view room at the Contemporary. Thinking about switching weeks (to potentially take advantage of FD). There is a studio room at BLT for cheaper (not sure yet if it would qualify for FD but all else the same, it is cheaper).

Thoughts on these two rooms? Is BLT better? We would love to get a 1 bedroom to have a separate space for the kids but it isn't available. Would the BLT at least give us more room or are the studios about the same size as a standard room at the Contemporary?

BLT are much smaller, by about 100 square feet. The Contemporary Tower standard rooms are much bigger. The standard rooms have either two queens beds/2 queens and a day bed versus one queen and a sleeper sofa.

Get the CR room for sure. The BLT studio is very small, not really good for more than two adults and maybe one very small child. The standard room would have two queen beds and a twin sized day bed. And those rooms are large. The studio would have one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa that are right up next to the window and with very little space between them. They don't have a night stand between the bed and sleeper sofa, just the curved end of the headboard. No room for a night stand between them.

Hi, I'm planning my family's first trip to WDW, and I stumbled onto this thread. We are trying to decide between a garden room at the Contemporary Resort and a 1-BR at the Bay Lake Tower. We have 3 kids (11, 8, and 3), so the kitchen and extra space at BLT seem appealing, but the price difference is about $500! Can anyone weigh in on whether a family of 5 would be comfortable for 4 nights in a garden room at the Contemporary? Thanks in advance for your help!

The rooms at the CR are very large. We stayed in the wing rooms a few years ago and were amazed with the space. The bathroom was large. The room was large and there was plenty of room.

You won't have the free washer and dryer and the full kitchen, but you'll have a mini-refrigerator.

Thanks for the helpful info! Also, I read that there is a laundry room at the CR. Do you happen to know if it's convenient to get to?

I have done both the 1 bedroom at BLT and the garden wing room at CR with a family of five. Are you sure the 1 bedroom is only $500 more?!?! If so, I would definitely do that! You get much much more space, two bathrooms, washer and dryer. And you get a balcony whereas in the garden wing you only get a patio on the first floor.

With that said, we are staying in a garden wing room again in two weeks ;-) They are great great rooms!!! The laundry is in the garden wing building (on the second floor?)

Thanks so much. This is really helpful! The quotes I have are from AAA. I'm going to verify the room types on Monday!

Just a follow-up...When I checked with AAA, I was told that the BLT is no longer available to book. :confused3 I went ahead and booked a garden wing room at the CR! Can someone weigh in on getting a garden view room vs a standard view room in the garden wing? My kids like to people-watch, so I'm thinking that it'll be worth paying extra for a garden view.
