We just made ressies for Memorial Day time frame in May at AKL using the Mousesavers code and decided to start out at Standard Room rate $149 plus tax/fees. I understand the Standard room view is "grounds and parking lot". I would like to get folks opinions on this type of room, pros/cons, what would be best floor. What specifics should I include in a room request fax other than non-smoking, bedrails etc.

We have been to Boma's and toured this resort before and really like the property, I am sure we will love it but would appreciate thoughts from others who have stayed here before. THANKS!!!!!

We recently returned from AKL and were thrilled with it. We also booked a standard room. Two days before checking in, I called the room assignor and requested a quiet room, non-smoking, bunk beds and the best view possible, even though we had only booked standard. I was advised that even though it was President's week the hotel was not very full and all my requests could be met. I believe they upgrade from standard view whenever possible. We got a lovely quiet pool view room and were very happy. I was very worried about receiving a standard view room by the busses so I think emphasizing a quiet room as your number one request is important. You will love AKL! The staff bent over backwards to meet any request. The bell person advised me if we were in any way unhappy with our room we could be immediately switched. We loved the large zero depth entry pool, animal viewing, delicous food at all three restaurants and many activities. Bus transportation was superb. You will have an awesome time!:bounce:

Thanks Disney Cape Codder,

I think I have it figured out now. Going for the quiet request makes real sense. Thank you.

One thing you might want to request is that you be a ways away from the lobby end of the hall. The closer you are to the lobby the greater the chances that your balcony will be a solid wall half way up. The rooms that are further away have the wrought iron railings. I didn't really mind that but if you have small children they wouldn't be able to see over the wall. Have fun.
