Standard Cake Flavor Favorites?

Since I don't have the time to go up for a cake testing, nor do I want to pay $75 for it, I was hoping to hear what some taste combos others have tried. We're doing an escape VR, so we're getting the basic 2-tier buttercream. But I'm torn between getting a chocolate with either amaretto mousse, strawberry mousse, or buttercream or the almond cake with chocolate mousse. Then again, there are so many other choices. I just want to know what type of cake and filling others have had and loved.

We had the chocolate with amaretto mousse...and OMG! It was SOOOO good! The only regret was that there was too much of it for the two of us!

I've heard a lot of brides talk about the chocolate with peanut butter mousse, but I think you have to request that (don't know if there's an extra charge).

We didn't have the opportunity to go for a tasting or anything either (actually, we didn't even think it was possible)...for the most part, I think it's good to know that these cakes (no matter what flavors you choose) are fabulous!

We were planning on doing the whole cake chocolate with raspberry mousse on the bottom and amaretto mousse on the top...yummmm

I had a custom wedding with a three teir cake
Bottom - Chocolate with Peanut Butter Mousse
Middle - Marble with White Chocolate Mousse
Top - Lemon with Raspberry Mousse and Fresh Raspberries
I told my planner during the cutting that I want a piece of all three layers everyone got to try all three layers and they were all delicious!!! Everyone loved every layer!

I've heard tons of great reviews of the peanut butter cup filling (where they mix peanut butter and chocolate). I've also heard the buttercream is pretty blah....

If we can get the Peanut Butter Mousse, there's no question DH would want that. I'll have to ask my WP when I talk to her. Keep the recommendations coming though, I love to hear about wedding cakes.

We did chocolate cake with strawberry mousse. It was amazing! Everyone said it was the best wedding cake ever!

For my parents 25th Wedding Anniversary we did the Chocolate Mousse and Vanilla cake... SO GOOD

We had yellow cake with strawberry mousse...it was fabulous!!! The strawberry taste was just enough-not overpowering at all. It was delicous cake-I wish I had some right now!

I think it's free if you do a custom, but you have to pay $75 if you are doing an intimate.

we're doing almond cake with ameretto mousse, and maybe have the 2nd layer yellow with choc mousse if they will allow us different flavours.

Wonder how much they would charge an Intimate for the peanut butter mousse on one layer? That sounds delicious (with choc cake) yum yum!

I emailed my WP a few weeks ago about the Peanut Butter mousse and she told me it was only for custom. If anyone finds out this is not true please let me know...I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER!!!

You might want to ask TinkBride about her wedding cake. I believe she had an intimate wedding (can't be certain of that though) and she wrote in her TR that she had Chocolate and Peanut Butter Mousse. She may have had to pay extra for it.

I am having that too (custom). I am going to ask if the can't add crushed bits of reese's peanut butter cups too. You think that is too much?

Rats! DH said that's what he'd want, otherwise I get to pick because if it's not peanut butter, he doesn't care.
