I have looked for a thread that covers this and had no luck. If this has been discussed, please point me in the right direction.
We are going on a 10 day to the Panama Canal, (not Disney :sad1: ) and really don't want to take my laptop. I think my best option is a data storage media reader. I have been researching this for a couple of days and have narrowed it down to 2 devices. One by Wolverine and one by Digital Foci. Does anyone have any other ideas, suggestions, or recommendations on other equipment or should I just take many CF cards?

I always take a lot of CF cards. But if you have an iPod there is an adapter you can buy that allows you to connect your camera to the iPod and use its hard drive for photo storage.

I have a new iPod classic, but from what I have read on apple's web site, that cable / connector isn't compatible with the new ipod classic. If there is way for that to work with the ipod classic, I prefer that...I don't have to buy anything else.

the wolverine is a nice unit, flashtrax is also a nice unit that actually allows you to view the pics, there are also devices that allow you to burn pics from your card straight to dvd without a computer... I actually just bought one and I'm playing with it as we speak..

The Wolverine has very good reviews on Amazon, the DF has good reviews. I looked at the flashtrax, but I really don't need the viewer function. I can do that on the camera. On the other hand, I have an abundance of blank dvd's laying around if the device isn't to expensive. Which dvd burner did yo get?

I actually bought this...http://www.amazon.com/ImageMaestro-PRO-Portable-Burner-JIM-001/dp/B00079V7DI

I got it used on ebay for 31 dollars.. for that price I figured I could buy a new burner and install it if it didn't work..it's an older burner so Although it seems to be working OK I might just get a new burner anyways for the speed increase..I've already priced those and can get a dual layer burner for around 50

You will love the panama canal. In the middle of the canal is a lake, called Lake Gatun I think. Once you are in it, you are approximately 50 feet above sea level. It takes about 8-10 hours on a good trip to transit the whole thing. I have been through the canal 6 times (courtesy of the US Navy :thumbsup2 ). Once you get out of the canal and get close to Rodman, Panama, get the camera ready and get a good pic of the Bridge of the Americas. As you get nearer to it, you will swear your gonna hit it with the ship. Also look along the shore line for Javelinas, a type of wild pig. Sorry for being off topic.

No problem here being ot, I do it myself sometimes. Unfortunately, it isn't a complete transit. It is a round trip from Ft. Lauderdale on Princess. In through the Gatun Locks, anchor for awhile, and back out to Cristobal. Maybe we'll get a transit on Disney to Disneyland one day...
