My family and I are very much so "quick service" people. We only do TS meals for a character breakfast or 2. At any rate, my DH just got some amazing news yesterday, and he wants to celebrate on our trip in 2 months. We get in MCO at 530, so I was going to make reservations for a dinner for us that night around 730 or 8. He wants TRex, and I want Ohana's, but neither is available right now. What are my chances of finding a table available before then at either of those restaurants? How often should I check back? Should I go ahead and book a table at a different place and cancel if i find one of our preferences available? Thanks!:)

When are you going? It's not unlikely that you will find something, but it's not certain you will either. you'll just have to check everyday.

On another note, how are you getting from MCO to your resort? Are you sure 2 hours is enough? I personally wouldn't book an ADR for any sooner then4 hours after my flight lands.

Sure. It's always good to have a backup. It's also probably easier to check online everyday too. You never know. I made ADR's for Ohana's at our 180 mark + 10 and I still wasn't able to get the exact time I wanted. Things happen though. Good luck! :wizard:

You'll have no problem getting a reservation for Trex if you call the restaurant directly. They release a tiny fraction of their reservations to the Disney Dining Reservation System. They keep almost all reservations for their internal reservation system.

I know you asked a different question but I can't hold back. I would not plan a celebration dinner on my arrival night with such a tight timeframe. Of course you might make it, but if the dinner is meant to mark a special occasion, it will be more fun if you don't have a cloud of uncertainly surrounding it. Planned arrival at 5:30 and dinner at 8 is an unlikely gamble.

And if you allow yourself to celebrate a different night it also gives you more options for getting the restaurant that you really want.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the input everyone - we are not concerned if we don't get our celebration dinner that night. We are hoping for the best, so we plan on making reservations about 2 to 2-1/2 hours after we get in. Right now, we are scheduled for the the express to and from the resort, but we may or may not cancel and get a taxi. If we don't think we will make it, I will be keeping the number with me to call and cancel if I have to. We really aren't picky - if our celebration dinner ends up being counter service at our resort, we will still be celebrating!! :) I will try calling TRex today, though, to see what we can find. Thanks again!
