Stairwells at BWV

OK this may be a silly question but.......

We stayed at the Boardwalk last year our room was above Big River Grill. So when we got out of the elevator we walked down the corridor and then it turned left down towards our room. At the area where it turned left there were some stairs which turned you out at the side of the shop underneath, are these for public use or are they a fire exit ??

If you can use them is there a a place to use your key card to get back in?

One further stair question if you were staying at BWV with a quiet pool view are there stairs you can use there to get down to the pool or do you have to keep going back to the elevators?

Never used the specific stairwell you mentioned but when we stay at BWV in a standard view room, overlooking the entrance drive, we always use the different stairs to get to either of the pools, the walkway to the Studios and the bus stop. They are for public use, even though their appearance is that of a service facility, and you do need to use your room key to open the ground level door to re-enter.
