Staffing Cutbacks at the Parks?

Hey all-we just got back from 5 days at USF, wonderful stay at Portofino Bay but one thing really bothered me and that was the lack of staffing on most of the rides and attractions. Has anyone else noticed this? On some rides it almost seemed like the lack of ride attendants was really evident and felt weird- not saying they werent safe or anything but on a lot of rides the lines didnt move as fast, etc. Any thoughts?

If the parks are cutting staff back due to attendance numbers and cost the rides will then be manned with the minium number of Team Members required. While this may seem like a bad idea to guest I honestly would rather have cut hours and still have a job then to have no job at all.

i totally agree.

i can easily handle the cut back as long as people are still able to keep their jobs.
if waiting in line means standing for a longer time period, i willingly will do that for TM job security.


disney is doing the same thing.
i looked at the calendar for the fall.
all the parks there have cut hours planned.

i think we will be seeing this all over the country where it involves theme parks in general.

Being a CM and former TM I am happy to see that alot of people agree/support the parks decision with staffing cut backs. I have friends that are experiencing the lack of hours in the park but they have been able to find another part time job to pick up hours. Sure they are disapointed that they aren't able to pick up extra hours like in the past but they are happy that they still have a job with hours.
I am lucky that I work in an office location so I am pretty set for now with a M-F Gig.

Anything the theme parks can do to save jobs is alright with me. There are too many people out of work now.

I understand cut backs, almost every company is doing it, it's definitely a scary and shaky economy for sure. But I do have a question, since you stayed on site and got to use express entry, how long were your waits? We are going to be there next week and just wondering what to expect, I was hoping for around 10 and 15 minutes for the express lines.
