Just a fun, trivial question that I'm sure some of you can rattle off at the drop of a dime. Can you name some of the staff, their home countries and which ship they sail? I know that most cruise lines have a pretty diverse staff and I'm sure DCL is no exception. This could be a good geography tool for my children as well! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Magic -

****(Fidelio - Dueling Pianos - USA)

Rico - Guest Services - Phillipines
Roger - Server - Brazil (recently returned to Brazil but stays in our hearts!)
Tiago - Server - Brazil
Giorgio - Server - Brazil (he is Italian though!!!)
Maclean - Head server - India
Erwin - Server - St. Vincent
Silvio - Server - Chili
Andrea and Zoran - Servers - Hungary

Just a few names - and one of my son's projects is to get their photograph, ask for their signature in his book, with the name of city and country and learn something to say in THEIR native language. Then we come home, look for their country on the globe and talk about it a little.

Sure does make the world a small place!!!!!

I don't recall the names of the CMs we had but they came from: Canada, USA, Jamaica, Italy, England.

Disney Wonder Cruise, May 25, 2003

We had Putra (Indonesia) as a server and Pearl (Trinidad) as an assistant server. They were great! My kids say they miss them!:D

We met a CM from Turkey at the pool one night serving drinks on the Magic. He said he use to work for Carnival but Loves DCL as the atmosphere is nicer, more family oriented.

When we cruised in May our CM's were:

Ireen - Uganda - server
Gabor - Hungary - asst. server
Pietro - Italy - head server
Thompson - India - room steward

Wonder, Dec., 2002--

Ivetta from Bulgaria, assistant server (husband and father-in-law thought she was GORGEOUS), and our server was from Rhodesia, and for the life of me I can't remember his name right now, but he was wonderful! Marcus, our room steward, was from Nassau, Bahamas (not very far away).

Wonder, May, 2001

Vicky from Canada was our server was at the end of her contract and was leaving to go into business with her brother in Canada (she was still on Wonder in December, 2002, but told us that this was the end of her contract and she was REALLY leaving this time). Michail from France was our assistant server, and he was very interested in what we thought of the wine-tasting then. We ran into him again in December, 2002, and he was one of the wine stewards at Palo. Clemron was our room steward, and I think he was from Jamaica.

Both Vicky and Michail said they remembered us. Do you think they really do remember, or is it part of the "Disneyness" to say that they do? Either way, we've loved all of our servers. They work so hard to make the cruise an awesome experience.

Rae - What a wonderful idea! I just told my kids about the autographs and learning to say a phrase in the other person's language and they are excited to do the same. I love the idea because it is educational without them even realizing it! Thanks for the great tip.

Anything we can do to improve relations across the world is just another piece of the puzzle for world peace. Also, geography is always so DRY - if our kids have this little activity, it becomes more of a game for them!

I also have Michael plot our course out on the globe and we talk about where we are going to visit and what the place is noted for.

Did you think about having your kids do the kid talent contest? From what I've heard/seen, it's low stress and fun. Michael has decided that he will play piano for it this next cruise. It was done with intentions that Fidelio would be there, but he's still going through with it!
