My local walgreens has just changed their couponing policy. We can't use more coupons than the number of items purchased. I never got a copy of this new policy, but next time I go i will definately look at it!

I was checking out and bought 13 items (all of which I had coupons for) and for 5 items, I was going to use two coupons (1 walgreens coupon AND 1 MNFCTURS coupon)...they told me "13 items, means only 13 coupons"...which I was shocked by, because I've ALWAYS done it this way...I thought Walgreens coupons could always be stacked with a manufactures coupon.

Anyone else dealing with this? I asked to speak to a manager about it and he said it was a new policy. SO...I got crafty with them and 're-shopped' Added a few 'buy one get one free' coupons and a few more things. For the same price, I got 6 more items and got to use all my coupons.

My partner works at Walgreens and that has always been their policy as far as she knows. Where we live you can stack coupons but you cannot have more coupons than for items you have. Hope this helps!

This is a long time Walgreens (cash register quirk, I believe) deal. It just may be you have always had more items than coupons before.

Been a policy for as long as I have known. If you read any of the coupon blogs they always list "filler" items.

Yes, that was one of the first things I taught DH when he started couponing for us there - add a pack of gum or something!

You can only have as many manufacturer coupons as items in your cart. (If coupon is $/2, then that counts towards 2 items.) However, the Walgreens coupons do NOT count in that total. If that is what they were trying to say, they were not correct. Call the corporate number and get clarification. Corporate WILL call the store to correct them if they are doing something incorrectly.

However, sometimes there are coupons that have the Walgreens logo but say manufacturer's coupon on them. Those coupons are YMMV depending on store as to whether they count as Walgreens coupons or manufacturer's coupons.

The Walgreens coupons in their ads (like at the bottom of the page that you cut out) do NOT count towards the total number of items.

That is what I thought! I'd been doing that for several years...and never ONCE was told I could not...example...

I'd buy 13 items, use 7-10 manufactures coupons (said manufacturers coupon on the top), then stack a few (5 or more) WALGREENS coupons (Yes, they were WALGREENS, Not Mfrs coupons)...

I KNOW I can't buy 13 items and use more than 13 Mfrs coupons...that is never right. I know better than that. That would be fraud on my part, and I am not like that at all.

The store manager told me it was a recent local decision to change that policy, stating that there can only be 13 coupons in TOTAL if 13 items are purchased. I'd been shopping there for about 3 years, with no problem of stacking multiple coupons and using more than the items that I purchased (because of using BOTH manuf. AND Walgreens coupons).

I am not mad about it, just questioning it I guess. It may be a good policy for them to have, so they don't loose money. I understand it, I was just wondering if others had the same policy.

Also, I think it is different for each town/store. I don't think that the coupon policy is the same at EVERY location. I will ask for a print out next time I go there, I want to be able to do it the right way, within their rules.

Seriously call the corporate office and discuss this.

My Walgreens came up with a policy that you can only use ONE Register Reward per transaction. However, on the back of the Register Reward it clearly says you can have one PER ITEM. They had even made a homemade sign (hand written) that they taped up by the register so they could point to it and say, "See". So I called corporate and asked about it. The next time I went in there the hand made sign was down and they were accepting more than one RR per transaction.
