Hello fellow campers, I'm sooo excited, Hubby & I are coming to FW in our RV for a long weekend May 18-21st. I was wondering about the transportation to the parks other then MK. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if a good plan would be to take the boat fr FW to the contemporary then board the monorail to AK, MGM or Epcot, which are the 3 parks we plan on doing? Thanks for your help. Any other advice would be appreciated!:hourglass

We are going to be at the Fort May 14 - 21. Maybe we will see you around the Campfire.

First, welcome to the DIS!

As far as transportation to the parks, there are buses that leave from FW and go to AK, MGM and Epcot. As for you monorail plan, this would only work for Epcot, as there is no monorail to AK or MGM. Also, if you plan to take the monorail to Epcot, it is a different line from the resort monorail, which is what you will get on at the Contemporary. What you would have to do is take the resort monorail from the Contemporary, and exit at the Ticket and Transportation Center, and then board the monorail to Epcot. This is fine if you are interested in riding the monorail, but the bus from FW would be quicker and less hassle.

The bus system in FW is simple. There are three internal routes. The internal routes terminate either at the Settlement Depot or the Outpost Depot. One is near the front entrance, and the other is back by Pioneer Hall, the petting zoo, etc. The Epcot and AK buses are up by the front, the MGM bus in the back. The buses run continuously. You may have to wait a bit if a bus has just left, but probably never more than 15-20 minutes.

The only other advice I can give you is to not overplan, and just go with the flow!

Have fun!

Edit: Well I just noticed Tri-Circle-D beat me to the punch!!! ;)

Well, you can't take the monorail to AK or MGM, so count those out as far as that is concerned. The monorail only goes to MK and Epcot. For Epcot, it's not a bad idea, we have done it quite a few times, and it's always nice to relax in the monorail to and from (you'll have to switch at the Ticket and Transportation Center to get to Epcot).

For AK and MGM, I would suggest just driving if you can, otherwise perhaps taking a bus. There really is no advantage to going to the Contemporary first for those parks, it would more just take you out of the way, since you would have to end up getting on a bus there anyways.

Thank you all for your responces! I'm thinking maybe the 1st day we get to FW which will be the 18th, we will set up our camp then I plan on us going to Epcot as that happens to be the day with "extra Majic Hrs" at night, I have pre booked the 3 day Fl residence ticket and have recd two lime green credit cards with instructions saying to take these cards to the one of the park ticket sales locations...so Im guessing the boat to MK then the monorail which will goto the "ticket" ctr would be ok for the 1st day? I dont want to sound anal with the planning but we will be in a time deficit that 1st day as I figure we probably wont arrive at the camp till @ 11:30 & then check in & set up the RV...we will probably play it by "ear" (watch for falling puns) and may not even do a park the 1st day? Thanks again for everyones advice and hope to see you around the campfire

Why dont you kids come down from Delrey Beach the same weekend were there? Then you can show us around! The Epcot Flower festival will be in full swing!

lol, actually it's "up" for us, we're below Orlando. We're planning on going for the Garden Festival, just not sure when. We'll probably just plan a last minute trip (aka decide we want to go on Monday, see if there's any availability anywhere, and if so, go that weekend). Now that we live a whole hour closer than we did before, it will be easier for us to do just two day trips instead of having to make everything 3 days (although I still prefer 3 day trips ;) ).
