We had planned on going to St. John's on the St. Thomas Day, but after reading these boards for several weeks now, we have decided that we can do our own excursion for a lot less money and get much more time at the beach compared with the 2-3 hours you get at St. John's.

Any suggestions on which beach would be the best for us - we love to snorkel and have read that either Coki or Sapphire Beach is the best for that. Anyone out there who has been to either of those?...would love some input on which beach to choose for the day. Thanks!!

We went to Coki Beach. We did do Coral World so we also had access to the showers, food, and restrooms. Coki Beach was nice, snorkling good. Beach was small. We did drive by Sapphire, it was at a resort so it would have the amenities and it was a bigger beach. Either one should be good. We really enjoyed Coral World / Coki, but if we went again, we would probably do Sapphire or another. Oh, we did this on our own. Coral world was $46, cab was $28 for a family of four. On the way home, they didn't charge for our youngest, so it was $21.

We also did Coral World and Coki beach on our own and found that we had a lot more time than what was offered on the cruise. My 9 year old DD loved petting the stingrays. I found Coki Beach to be very small but my daughter loved it because she had her hair braided and there were lots of fish; the kids used bread to feed the fish and they were having a blast, seeing tons of fish even in knee deep water. I also got a coupon good toward a discount of several dollars at the Coral World web site. Don't remember the site now but it was easy to find.

In November, we went to Sapphire Beach. Just took a cab from the pier, about $7pp each way. The facilities were great, the beach fantastic..plenty big enough for our group (9). On the way back we got the tour of the island with a stop at the mountainside overlook where you can see the port . Grand Princess, Veendam & Magic lined up.. A spectacular photo-op!!

I'll second and third the posters on Coki Beach/Coral World. We did this in January, and DD loved it. I do recommend the Coral World pass--it gets you out of the sun for a little bit, and has nice bathrooms and showers. Coki has bathrooms, but the day we were there they were NASTY!! My prices were in line with the above posters--there are coupons for $$ off Coral World in the THings to do Guide that you can find as you get off the ship--in the newsracks at the mall area, and in the store. They also have them just AFTER you enter Coral World--maybe you can get the attendant to hand them to you, before you purchase tickets.

I just wanted to let you know that I printed out the coupon from the Coral World web site. The taxi driver also gave us the same coupon. We did really enjoy it, our daughters also had their hair braided there. Let us know what you decide!

Coral World has a great web site... I went there got the prices and even wrote them some e-mail. They wrote me back and snail mailed me some brochures...

54$ for a family 2 adults and 4 children. Or they have a coupon on their webpage.
