We want to stay a few days in this area (st. pete beach, Clearwater beach, or treasure island). Any ideas of hotels? Thanks

I don't really recommend the Sirata. We stayed there 2 years ago and the rooms were layed out very similar to the All-Star Resorts but not nearly as nice. We also had a hard time finding any decent restaurants in this area.

We have stayed at a number of hotels in Treasure Island. This year we are directly across from the beach a the Treasure Bay motel and Marina. It is on the inland water. Beautiful sunsets from the pool areas, a lot of restaurants within walking distance. Beach bus stops in front if you don't want to drive. Reoms look very nice. All rooms have balconies.

My fiance and I enjoyed the Sirata, but we did get a complimentary upgrade to a King suite. We did experience a few minor problems in the room, no cold water and the stand-up shower clogged up and slightly overflowed. But, we couldn't complain b/c the view was amazing. I would say pick somewhere else because it's not worth taking a chance on. If your not staying in the tall building (5 stories), the building across the way looks like a motel (3 stories) and that's where they stick most of the families. Hope this helps!

What about Don Cesaers in St. Pete Beach. Nice Resort! A great place to eat is Salt Rock Grill near Indian Rocks Beach. There is another place we loved near St. John's Pass. It think it is called Snapper's. Great Key lime pie.
Sorry, I don't have exact info for you. It's been a couple of years since we went.

Hi!

My niece lives in that area and while she attended college we couldn't stay with her so we always got a place at the beach. Some great and some the pitttttsssss.

We love Gulf Tides Inn. Gulftidesinn.com
It is not right on the beach... just a few blocks away.

I think someone already mentioned Snappers- YUMM!

We have a great time at Lowrey Park Zoo in Tampa. www.lowryparkzoo.com

Have a great trip!

We live in that area and have stayed at several resorts over the years.
The Don Cesar is amazing but you're looking at about $300/night. We've stayed there a couple of times but only for special occasions. The "main" thing to do is the beach. The resort is gorgeous, though, and fun to just walk around. They have a great pool bar and if you want 5-star dining you cannot go wrong with the Maritana Grille!
The Tradewinds and Tradewinds Sandpiper are fantastic! Sometimes you can get deals for about $100/night at the Sandpiper. They have really cool stuff to do, including paddleboats and a giant slide. The beach is right there and beautiful, and the pools are really nice. Lots of good restaurants, too.
We stayed at the Sirata in 2008. It was wonderful - full kitchen, huge bathroom, gorgeous view. Lovely beach and nice pools. We got it through Priceline and paid $55 and the walk-up rate was about $55, too.
The Grand Plaza was recently re-done and is very nice. The restaurant on top is very good.
The entire area is gorgeous and you'll have a great time!

We LOVED Celebrity Resorts in Indian Shores (just south of Clearwater Beach). Its a nice, quiet area with great beach access just across the road. The suite was HUGE and we got a nice deal on the price. The pool is tiny though...but who needs a pool when you've got the ocean.
We make a trip to the gulf coast each year now because we love it so much! Make sure to eat at Crabby Bill's...and my dh really likes Frenchy's too!
Have a great time and good luck!

We are staying at The Don Cesar in July for the 2nd time, advance purchase of room was $160 a night
